Late to the party, as usual. I started another run-through of Diablo 3, this time with the Necromancer DLC, and damn if it's not the most fun I've had with the game.

I didn't get Necromancer when it first came out because it's not something I'm thematically interested in, but it turned out to be the most entertaining class in the game.

I finally got a chance to see Guardians, the Russian superhero movie. This is a movie I've had my eye on since I first saw the trailer, late last year. It's finally out on DVD. Was it worth the wait?

Eh, kinda?

Look, it's a thin plot. The acting is pretty wooden. The dubs were so, so bad. It bombed, even in the motherland. But it was fun. The action scenes were alright. The CGI was acceptable.

A lot of the reviews are pretty savage, but I felt like It had heart. It wasn't a cynical cash grab, like so much of American cinema these days.

Combine the body count of John Wick with the humor of Deadpool, and you have The Hitman's Bodyguard. It was silly. It was violent. I liked it.

Valerian and the City of Thousand Planets was a hot mess. While the imagery and setting were gorgeous, the leads alternated between between boring and just...ick. It just felt like a missed opportunity and wasted potential.

This is the closest thing we'll ever have to a Mass Effect movie.

#RPGaDay 2017, Day 6

"You can game every day for a week. Describe what you'd do."

I would need some variety. Doing RPGs that much would be exhausting, so I'd want to mix in some board games and miniatures. And as heretical as it might sound, I'd rather have a week full of one-shots in different systems than multiple sessions of the same game.

So really, I guess I'd want a week long game convention.

"What RPG cover best captures the spirit of the game?"

Without spending a day looking at covers, I'm going to go with Shadow of the Demon Lord. From the bleak color palette, to the bloated and bloody monster, this image captures the hopelessness of SotDL's themes.

#RPGaDay 2017, Day 4

"What RPG have you played the most since August 2016?"

That's easy. Cypher System. I ran a full weekend of sessions for Monte Cook Games and played in (one of?) +Marc Plourde's Gods of the Fall sessions at Gencon 2016, I'm playing in +James Walls wonkier-than-usual Numenera campaign, along with more +Marc Plourde for Freeport. I ran the first season of Cypher Play at my FLGS along with a couple other demo sessions, I've run and played in several sessions for Lawful Good Gaming. And something else that I'm drawing a blank on.

"How do you find out about new RPGs?"

Pretty much exclusively via social media. I care a lot more about what my friends think of something, than what review sites do. And with Google+ especially, I follow quite a few creators, so I can see when they announce things themselves.

"What is an RPG you would like to see published?"

Continuum: Roleplaying in the Yet

Continuum is a detailed setting for time travel. It's pretty brain-bendy, because it fully embraces things like the "Grandfather Paradox" and what happens when (not if) you meet future or past versions of yourself.

It was published in 1999, and then quickly out of print. You can find one occasionally pop up on eBay, but it always goes for more money than I want to spend. I'm puzzled as to why the original authors don't do even a pdf rerelease, but so it goes.

#RPGaDay 2017 - Day 1, Catching Up edition

"What published RPG do you wish you were playing right now?"

Torg Eternity. The Kickstarter was a success, the core book and day 1 adventure book have been released. I have cards printed, and tokens at the ready.

I have managed to run this once online, and it went fairly well. But I'd really like to be in a face-to-face game, either running or playing.
