The success of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in capturing large territories in Syria and Northern Iraq, and now threatening Baghdad, has raised once again the specter of a Sunni-Shi’a war in the Middle East. Such a scenario is possible, but unlikely. That’s because Sunni and Shi’a believers throughout the world are divided into many factions living under different social conditions and with different religious, social and political agendas. These differences greatly reduce the possibility of the emergence of a coalition of either group into a single bloc opposing the other.

Robert Gates was CIA Director and later Secretary of Defense. Without any evidence, he accused Iran of having a "nuclear weapons program" in 1992. Gareth Porter in his new book Manufactured Crisis details this event and reveals the extensive lies and misinformation used by the United States and its allies to smear Iran and precipitate the current crisis.
Aside from the intriguing clues to Robert Gates' probable role in constructing a false picture of the Iranian nuclear danger, Porter's book is essential reading for all Americans wary of manufactured paths to war that have become a major theme in U.S...

Great, great ice cream with unusual delicious flavors. One of the best ice cream shops I have ever visited, and that is really saying something, because I have visited hundreds all over the world.

Food was absolutely delicious, authentic and very, very reasonably priced. The pork dishes are especially delicious, and salads and soups are fresh and well prepared. Don't miss the Cuban coffee!

"Hotel is fine but handicapped spaces do not have proper signage." The hotel itself is fine with good rooms, a very nice pool and free wi-fi and breakfast--what we now come to expect of hotels in this class. However, I am somewhat disabled due to a severe operation and cannot manage luggage over long distances. I returned after a trip to a pharmacy to find the parking lot completely full. I was quite desperate. The front desk was kind enough to let me park in a non-designated space, and I was able to hobble to my room but I had to write this to let other travelers know that the hotel is not fully in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. There should be four or five designated handicapped spaces for their lot, and there are two. More importantly, the spaces are only marked on the pavement and not on a non-obscured sign. Here are the ADA regulations for signage. "Signs Mark each handicap parking space with a sign displaying the symbol of accessibility. Signs easily covered by parked vehicles do not adhere to ADA guidelines. Ensure that the sign is visible when a vehicle is parked. Note that the spot is van accessible with a sign below the symbol of accessibility." I appreciate the accommodating folks at the front desk, but this is a matter for management to handle, and I believe they have been lax.
