I want to put these photos in an album that I can share publicly without asking people to get a Google+ account. Let's see if that's doable.

A couple of recent 3D printing successes
With a few last-minute improvements I've been able to substantially improve the performance of the printer. I slowed the stepper motor to reduce vibration, and I allowed a settling time after each motor movement before exposing the next layer of resin. I cl...

Some photos of the bike-chain mechanics for the resin-based printer I'll be showing at Maker Faire NYC. A DLP projector aims at the mirror and projects an image down into the bucket, onto the surface of the resin. After the UV light from the projector cures a thin layer of resin, converting it from liquid to solid, the stepper motor uses the bike chain to rotate the sprockets, lowering the build platform into the resin in preparation to print the next layer. An overview of the 2014 printer

I got mentioned on the +Adafruit Industries blog! How cool!
Was a surprisingly successful printer for so modest the materials. Instead of filling the bucket with expensive resins, he floated the resin for printing on top of salt water -- this trick stirred ...

At long last, a decent print out of the new printer design. The big change was reducing vibration by slowing the stepper motor.

The new printer, the design for Maker Faire, is printing at long last. The final issue to be resolved was that the glass in the mirror was not transparent enough in the ultraviolet range, so the projector needs to be directly over the bucket. I think I prefer that, actually. Hopefully photos of complete dodecahedra will be shortly forthcoming.
