Adam Frank says the Disneyland measles outbreak is a wake up call; the assumption that if you disagree with certain established scientific results you can just ignore them will have consequences.

It's impressive (or disappointing?) that even with stuff like, peer review is the still the least-worst system we have.

I highly recommend people spend 25 minutes listening to this if you're interested in art or the internet or spending money. (So everyone should listen to it.)

It's the shame the only source I can find for this info is a wind energy company. Anyone know how reliable the data is? It looks plausible to me.
Today, I found the following interesting infographic from Four Winds Energy Co-Operative Limited that compares coal's potential, popularity and pollution with the one of wind's in the UK. Key Point...

What tools are people using to help with UI design reviews? I'm looking for something to help with late-stage UI (often when the first version is in a working for real, so we have functioning app) but for reviewing by other team members, before showing it to any users.

We're using Marqueed at the moment, but it's not a great fit for us.

One of the folks on my team tried asking on the Software Recommendations Stack Exchange, but mostly got tumbleweeds. So I thought I'd ask in here to see what people are using.
My software development team uses Kiln for its source control. We're really happy with its code reviews too (similar to Gerrit for Git), as they can happen asynchronously, are easily tracked with email notifications and have a clear review status (among other reasons). We're now looking for something equivalent for reviewing screenshots of our user interfaces. Granted, no review process based on screenshots will allow us to review the interactivi...

I noticed a company using one of my images without permission, so I mentioned it on Twitter https://twitter.com/Wilka/status/557521137941610499 - and they responded by blocking me https://twitter.com/Wilka/status/557560969887768576

That seems like a pretty lame way to deal with this kind of thing.

My first Android app. It lets you mark outgoing calls as urgent, to avoid them being missed.

So you don't need to worry about missing important calls from your family or friends, even if you're phone is set to silent. - they can just use Squid Call if the call is urgent.
With Squid Call you'll never miss an important call again.- You add friends...

Blogged: Refactoring in the past with git  http://blog.wilka.co.uk/2014/07/31/refactoring-in-the-past-with-git/
Sometimes you get half way through a task when you realise you need to do some refactoring before you can continue. One option is to just do the refactoring as you go, but if it's more than a trivial refactoring that will make it hard work for anyone reviewing the code. They'll need to untangle ...

"...member of the health committee and the science and technology committee..."

Not that I know what those committees actually do, but I assume they have some influence in government policy on health, science & tech.
