Looking forward to this tonight! BBC2 8pm (or Saturday 6pm in Wales).

A ‪#‎SpiritBear‬ is a rare genetic mutation of a black bear which has an almost white coat and, as a result, is known locally as the "ghost bear". The story follows a mother and her two black cubs as they emerge from hibernation.

Find out about our trip to see Spirit Bears > http://www.wildlifeworldwide.com/group-tours/great-bear-rainforest
In the vast Canadian wilderness, there lives a very special bear family. Just out of hibernation, two black cubs have a pure white mother. She's not a polar bear or albino - locally she's known as a ghost bear. This far north, winter is never far away, and this unusual family must work hard to find enough food to see them through. They will also need to avoid other large predators, but being so different could bring them unwelcome attention. Sh...

Today is ‪#‎GlobalTigerDay‬! In 2010, there were estimated to be just 3200 tigers in the wild - WWF are working to double this number by 2022.

UPDATE FROM CHRIS BREEN (our founder) - currently exploring the #GreatBearRainforest, Canada.

(The venue of "Ghost Bear Family" screened on BBC2 last night.)

"I’m not quite sure what the lure of the Great Bear Rainforest is, but it calls me back again and again, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been lucky enough to visit.

I’m not sure if it’s the pine-clad steep-sided fjords that are home to bald eagles, ravens and crows, or the emerald-green waters inhabited by humpbacks and orcas... Maybe it’s the chance of seeing a wolf at the shoreline, or a grizzly catching a salmon. Or perhaps it’s the most beautiful bear of all that has hooked me - the spirit bear - a honey-coloured morph of the black bear that’s only found in this part of the world.

Below are a couple of spirit bear shots I took when here last time, it’s this female that now has two black bear cubs!

As I write, I’m sat on the deck of the Spirit Bear Lodge watching gulls fishing and hummingbirds feeding, while out in front of me is pristine wilderness. It is world-renowned as one of the places to visit to see and photograph spirit bears.

Together with Mark Carwardine, we will run our #FestivalOfBears trip here in late September 2015 - and due to a late cancellation we have one single space left on the trip. Why not join us for what will undoubtedly be a true wildlife fiesta?" http://www.wildlifeworldwide.com/group-tours/the-festival-of-bears

Scientists in Australia have found that a simple camera hack could help them identify and save the rare black leopards of the Malay Peninsula > http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20150713-spotless-leopard-reveals-spots?ocid=fbert
The leopards of the Malay Peninsula are entirely black so nobody can tell them apart. Now we have a way to see their spots
