Just received this from Chris Breen (currently on our annual Festival Of Whales trip in ‪#‎Mexico‬) - sounds & looks absolutely fantastic Chris!

"Today was even better - it's surely not possible. We went out at 9am after breakfast and went into the whale watching zone. A whale breached quite a way in front of us, then again, then a third time. Amazing. Then another whale breached, this time closer, and again, and again and again - seven breaches in all from two whales in the space of maybe three minutes. But the best was to come - the second breaching whale (a single male we discovered) then came up to our boat to roll and play and scratch and spy hop and fin slap.... after an hour and 15 minutes we had to leave him.

We were left speechless - and at least one person on the boat was in tears of joy.

This is the most incredible wildlife experience on earth!"

Update from Chris Breen (MD), currently in ‪#‎Mexico‬ on our ‪#‎FestivalOfWhales‬ trip with Mark Carwardine:

"An amazing day in ‪#‎SanIgnacioLagoon‬ today! A 15 minute boat ride to the whale watching zone looking at pelicans, terns, and other seabirds was followed by a period of calm excitement (!) as we anticipated when the whales might come to see us. It wasn't long before we had a mother and young calf come to the boat to see who we were and to play. Splashing, whooping, and singing came from the boat as the whales rolled, and spy hopped right by us... And came to be scratched.

It couldn't get any better could it?... Until a second mother and calf appeared and then a third. Six whales playing by the boat.... Paradise! Every day of whale watching in San Ignacio Lagoon is different - but always the whales are amazing!"

The ‪#‎RufousHummingbird‬ flies almost 4000 miles from ‪#‎Mexico‬ to it's northern breeding grounds.

It arrives ahead of flowering season, but has developed a crafty way of overcoming this problem!

The behaviour was filmed for BBC 2 programme Alaska: Earth's Frozen Kingdom - on tonight @ 8pm.

Today is ‪#‎InternationalPolarBearDay! A global event to raise awareness of the growing challenges polar bears are facing in the warming Arctic.

Thanks to Richard Barrett for these fabulous pictures taken during his trip to see ‪#‎PolarBears‬ in ‪#‎Churchill‬ last year.

"Got back from a brilliant trip to Churchill and Chilkat last Monday. All the plans worked out perfectly, thank you for setting up the Churchill section, it was by far my best trip there, in fact one of the best wildlife trips I have ever done! "

With ‪‎International Polar Bear Day‬ coming up on 27 February, we are pleased to be supporting a campaign which aims to focus attention on the challenges these Arctic giants are facing.

To commemorate the day, anyone booking a place on our "Classic Polar Bear" or "Tundra Lodge" trips before the 27 February, will have a WWF polar bear adopted in their name.

There is no doubt an encounter with wild polar bears is a memorable and moving experience, and will emphasise how crucial it is to protect this iconic species.
