Wildland Trekking is proud to share the other stuff our guides and staff do when not helping customers experience the wilderness! For example, Certified Guide Craig Rowe invented TripTarp, a multi-purpose tarp designed specifically for backpacking gear organization and trip planning.

He created it to help him better plan his Wildland Trekking trips. In short, to ensure he brings and considers everything his guests would need for a well-planned, memorable trip. He also carries it on the trail as a shade shelter, ground cloth and if needed, an emergency shelter.

If you want to learn more about this innovative way to organize gear and plan backpacking trips, you can pre-order TripTarp now on Kickstarter.
Pack & plan backpacking trips with the most comprehensive, organized way to sort gear and prepare for the backcountry.

A beautiful beam of light presented itself behind Everest the morning we summited Kala Pattar at 18,193 feet. A successful, safe, and great trip! A number of things can add instant comfort to life-on-the-trail and socks are one of them. Do yourself a favor if you aren't familiar with this one and check out the article that Wildland guide Craig Rowe put together to help promote happy feet on the trail. #happyfriday and happy hiking, friends!

#OurWild - At Wildland we advocate for wild places - it's in our mission statement and it's a core part of who we are. We believe that access to wilderness is a human right, and that it is a cornerstone of freedom. Abundant wild places are necessary; and they're an essential part of a functional planet. We fully support this endeavor by The Wilderness Society and are thus spreading the word on it.

Our parks, forests, refuges and other shared wildlands belongs to us all. Lawmakers are currently threatening to take away this unique American birthright. If we don't act now, we could lose these special wildlands forever. Tell your Congress members that #OurWild is not for sale at
#OurWild is a movement to keep national parks, forests, deserts and wildlife refuges in the hands of every American.

We did the Grand Canyon Classic hike. Eddie was such a fantastic guide! He had a great attitude and was always happy to answer our endless questions. He is also iron chef wilderness! Our meals were amazing, accommodating to the dietary constrains of group members. So great to have an adventure with such a well organized, safe and fun group! All the details were covered, we just had to move our feet!

My boyfriend and I just returned from a Grand Canyon backpacking trip on the Hermit Loop and I cannot rave enough about the experience that Wildland Trekking provided. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I had never done anything like this before…but Wildland made the entire process from booking to backpacking very smooth. The gear provided was very nice and definitely made the long distance travel easier and the entire trip more enjoyable. Most of all, our guide was terrific. Tess was so knowledgeable and answered the millions of questions that our group asked. She cooked the most delicious meals for us (totally unexpected), boiled countless pots of water for coffee, washed our dishes after each meal, pumped liter after liter of water, bandaged feet when we got blisters, made me soup when I got sick, took us on adventures on our rest day, and the list goes on. I am so grateful for the services that Wildland Trekking provided and I will definitely be booking many future trips!

There is nothing better than a walk through the woods to clear your mind and lighten your soul, unless it is a walk led by a wonderful Wildland Trekking guide who also happens to be a great cook! We had an amazing time backpacking in the Smoky Mountains. Our guide was an extremely experienced and knowledgeable backpacker who taught us so much about plant life, the trails, animals and history. We got so much more out of our trip from our guide, plus he did all the cooking! He took care of us from start to finish and was a joy to be around. His love of nature and the pride and care he took in job shone through making our trip so enjoyable. We felt safe the entire time and were able to just enjoy hiking and being surrounded by nature as Wildland Trekking took care of all the details. They are an excellent company and I cannot wait to take another trip with them.

Guide Name: Alex Wood Trip: Zion and Bryce Canyon Lodge Based Tour, may 15-18, 2016 My 22-year-old niece is interested in wilderness guiding. She asked me to summarize my top three characteristics of a great guide, which to my mind would be: knowledgeable in many areas (geology, botany, history, first aid, etc.) personable, and competent. Our guide Alex Wood exemplified all these characteristics. He was a charming and interesting conversationalist. We appreciated the depth of his knowledge about the geology of the parks we were hiking, the history of the National Parks system, and his familiarity with best views and places to break along the way. His ability to keep a very disparate group of individuals on the trail, negotiate differences of opinion, and find common ground among us was impressive. Wildland Trekking and Alex have my wholehearted recommendation.

Wildland Trekking goes above and beyond to provide an amazing client experience. The service is outstanding, the food delicious, and the guides are fun, informed, & passionate. They're taking folks into some of America's most beautiful country. I haven't found a more dedicated bunch of people sharing their love for wild landscapes. If you're looking to get away from it all - get in touch with Wildland Trekking!

This was my first Rim to Rim in the Canyon and I was more than a little nervous. But Wildland Trekking Company made the entire experience fantastic. From the conscientious service reps to our outstanding guide Brian (who really loves the outdoors and has one of the most positive attitudes I've ever encountered) Wildland's attention to detail and above-and-beyond service were the perfect introduction to the Grand Canyon. Enough so that I'm considering another go 'round:) Huge thanks to the entire team.

The Havasu Falls trip with Wildland Trekking was a hiking trip of a lifetime! I can't say enough about Wildland. The food was outstanding, the guides were knowledgeable and truly loved their jobs, and the scenery fantastic (especially the "secret" route along the river that Brian showed us). Ken and Brian really went above and beyond. I have never had such gourmet meals or felt so relaxed on a camping trip. The guides took care of everything. I also felt very safe in their care. Before the trip, the guides followed up with medical information and dietary needs. Going down to Mooney Falls was a little intimidating as I'm afraid of heights but Brian helped me, literally step by step, all the way down. He didn't rush me or make me feel embarrassed for going so slowly and told me exactly where to place my feet. I probably wouldn't have made it down without his help and then would have missed out on one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done (to Beaver Falls - must do!) I will definitely be joining Wildland Trekking on another trip ASAP!

A large thank you to Wildland for a great few days in the Grand Canyon. Three old guys from the UK each with over 30 years mountaineering experience rekindled their youth. Our guide was engaging company and couldn't have been more helpful. Looking to go with WTC again soon. Keep up the good work.
