Top Places to Travel in 2017: Ladakh
Nestled high in the jagged mountains of northern India is a magical realm marked by gompas (Tibetan Buddhist monasteries), colorful prayer flags strung above stupas, and a rich heritage steeped in ancient tradition. We’ve been exploring “Little Tibet” for decades and it never ceases to amaze us how rarely visited it still is. Our special Tso Moriri Trek is a true high-altitude adventure, with camps at around 15,000 feet and pass crossings of up to 19,200 feet. On our Journey to Ladakh, you’ll experience a Tibetan Buddhist festival, with its sacred dances and rituals performed by costumed monks representing guardian deities. Come along as we explore fascinating nature reserves brimming with history, savor local wine and cuisine inspired by the many cultures that have settled here, and hike through vineyards on the slopes of the stratovolcano, Mt. Etna, with delightful views of the turquoise sea: http://www.wildernesstravel.com/trip/italy/sicily-aeolian-islands-etna-hiking

Can you spot the tasselled wobbegong?

These carpet sharks, with their ornate, fringed beards and patterned skin, masterfully camouflage into the dappled reefs of Raja Ampat. It's a special treat to see a wobbegong lolling on the sea floor as you snorkel above. They blend in so well that you can pass right over them without even noticing.

We have limited space available on our Sep 17-28, 2017 Snorkeling Raja Ampat departure! Sign up to visit this aquatic metropolis, with some of the best snorkeling in the world, and search for its alien-like inhabitants: http://www.wildernesstravel.com/trip/indonesia/raja-ampat-islands-snorkeling
