Stop Number 4 on #katesroadtrip at Timoleague Abbey

The Franciscan Abbey dates from the 13th century and is situated at the edge of a long sea inlet. The abbey was built on the site of a monastic settlement founded by Saint Molaga in the 6th century after which Timoleague is named.

The village of Timoleague is a pleasant spot to take a stroll and has a good few restaurants and pubs. There is a ten day harvest festival each August with live music gigs and a fun fair.

Take a look at the video of the area on our main page about the Timoleague Abbey at https://www.wildatlanticwayonline.com/map-of-cork-wild-atlantic-way/discovery-points/timoleague-abbey/

Stop Number 4 on #katesroadtrip at The Old Head of Kinsale Lighthouse and Signal Tower on The Wild Atlantic Way in County Cork, Ireland.
It was a beautiful day and luckily one of the few days of the year that the great unwashed are allowed to visit the lighthouse so I got some great photos and video :-)

A link to an Irish Music radio Podcast from the Church of St James in Dingle -Well worth a listen!

Last night we were lucky enough to attend the Church of Saint James in Dingle for a special 2 hour live broadcast of RTE1’s Irish music program ‘South Wind Blows’ hosted by Phillip King. The line up was wonderful with the very talented singers Ailbhe Reddy, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Éilís Ní Chinnéide with Gerry O Beirne on guitar (at least 3 of them!), Cormac Begley on concertina (3 of them too!) and Eoin Duigan on flute. Stephen Gormley from Moon Looks On gave an impressive performance as did the exciting new band Saint Sister.
