HairPlaceNYC was recently featured in an online magazine highlighting our eyebrow wigs as a great solution for those with cancer and medical hair loss. http://blackdoctor.org/459786/now-weve-seen-it-all-eyebrow-wigs/ #hairplacenyc   #eyebrows   #wigs
Just when you thought you've seen it all when it comes to the falsified world of beauty, think again! With the trending of #eyebrowsonfleek everywhere it's no wonder that eyebrow wigs have been cre...

For Lupus Awareness Month, unfortunately we weren't able to present our FreeWigsForKids to Hospital for Special Surgery as we do every year. Erica Sandoval, we would be happy to visit, and we welcome you to stop by our our Salon too. www.freewigsforkids.org.

I found this great article, by Chanel Parks, and wanted to share it directly with my clients and social followers. It discusses lace front eyebrows, who's wearing them, and tips on applying them. Must see for anyone recovering from chemotherapy, and women who want fuller eyebrows.

Read the article: http://huff.to/1ukpuav
Another day, another eyebrow wig. Wait, what? Lace front eyebrows exist, and it might be something you've recently seen floating around the Internet. The false strips of hair are similar to lace front wigs, which are hair pieces where extensions ...

I am going through the chemo treatment and wanted to be prepared for the hair loss that I might experience soon. I found information about Andrew DiSimone on Google and so glad I did. He is an amazing person! From the first phone call to make an appointment through the whole experience of picking the perfect wig, it was a delight. Andrew helped me to pick up the wig that if looked exactly like my own hair: color, cut, wave. He showed me how to wear it and take care of. Andrew made this experience fun. Thank you, Andrew! You made this step so easy and pleasant! Julia

I was blown away by the level of care and the fantastic wig that Andrew and his staff helped me find. It is simply gorgeous, and I feel beautiful in it. Illness has a way of robbing us of all that is normal, but having this wig allows me to feel a bit more like myself. NYC can be a punishing place if you don't have good hair:), and I love rocking my new wig. Thanks, Andrew, for your kindness and great work!

Andrew spent over two hours answering all of my questions and was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. He just wants a customer to be very very happy and pleased. After I selected a wig, and came back to pick it up, I decided I just was not ready to actually commit at this time. Without any problem at all, Andrew, refunded my deposit in full! He could not have been any nicer or more professional! I will definitely return at a future date. This is the only place to go if you want or need a wig. You will not be sorry and most certainly be very pleased with the level of service rendered.

I have been dealing with on and off hair growth for the last 11 years of my life. I finally got enough courage to have a wig made to help me through my shedding periods. I went to a wig maker in Brooklyn who fabricated a human hair wig. The wig was okay but the cut was terrible. I did some research online and came across Andrew. Within the first 5 minutes he made me feel very comfortable and within 15 minutes of cutting my wig he made me smile. Andrew made the wig look perfect as well as me. I have since worn it twice to go out with friends with rave reviews. My only regret is I did not find Andrew sooner to make the wig. His talents are special as well as his advice. Honest and to the point. Good job Andrew and thank you. Ali

i wish i could give NO star. the worst experience ever. i went in for wig consultation because I will lose my hair soon due to chemotherapy. it is already a very sensitive, traumatic experience, but Alexandra, who i met for consultation, made it 100 times worse. I almost ran out there in tears. Even though i said the purpose of my visit on the phone, when i walked in, Alexandra said, "what are you here for?" when i answered, she took me to a small room. She measured my head and said there aren't many wigs that will fit me because i "have a very big head." she said that line at least 5 times. she tried to put on a small wig, which was so tight it hurt my head. then she had me try a blonde wig (I'm ASIAN WITH BLACK HAIR), saying i should focus on style not color. How could i focus on style when i look like a total idiot? I said "I don't like this, i look ridiculous." To that, she actually replied, "YEA." she found one wig, ONLY ONE, that fit me, and tried so hard to sell that to me. I did not look like me at all, nothing natural about it. and it was $2600, and she said if i wanted another style, i need to have it customized ("because you have a very big head"), it would be $3800. she said if i didn't customize it, it will take a few days to a week, but a customized one will take 8-10 weeks. the appointment confirmation email from them said, "...they are available within 24 hours..." FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. when I asked her about insurance for medical hair prosthesis, she flatly said, "we don't deal with insurance. you have to do it yourself". their website says, "Make sure you ask us about claiming your medical hair prosthesis on your medical insurance. We can help guide you through the process." ANOTHER FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Alexandra had NO sensitivity or compassion for the devastating situation that I am going through. My head is not small like a supermodel's, but certainly it is NOT gigantic. the impression I got was Alexandra wanted to make a quick sale and wanted to clear the inventory. A few days later, I called another wig shop in the city and visited them. Size of my head was NEVER even mentioned. They were so nice and found at least 5 wigs that fit me perfectly, one of which looked very natural, and it was not even $1000. So glad i didn't buy it from Hair Place. I will never set my foot in that place again, and if anyone i know will ever have to get a wig for medical reason, i will not send them there.

I wish there were negative stars to give this establishment. I just came today from there. I called 3 times to gather information prior to going. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT I NEEDED AN APPOINTMENT! Not to mention that when I got there all the individuals, all four of them were totally UNINTERESTED IN ME OR WHAT I HAD TO SAY!! I HAD BRAIN SURGERY ON 7/23 AND ALTHOUGH MY HAIR IS GROWING IN, I AM IN DIRE NEED OF A WIG BECAUSE I CAN'T GO TO WORK LOOKING LIKE THIS!! When told about the appt. I complained and then this young man came out with the same uninterested look and put me in the human hair wig room. A closet sized room with about 30 wigs!! NO selection. when I stated that I was looking for synthetic, he said he'd be back and then returned saying that he couldn't help me because there was a stylist with someone in the synthetic room who didn't want to be seen. I gave him a very specific request. Short, small wig in ash blonde! He couldn't have grabbed something? I explained that I came from far away and they still didn't care. HORRIBLE, DISGRACEFUL, DISGUSTED!! STAY AWAY!!

I think I met a true angel in Andrew. Andrew made a beautiful wig for me that makes me feel beautiful again. I suffer from severe alopecia, and have had a real complex about it. Andrew worked his magic and created for me a beautiful wig that makes me look 20 years younger. My wig is so well constructed. The beautiful part of this experience is I have never met Andrew. I sent him pictures and measurements and my wig fits perfect. He took my ideas of the look I wanted and made the exact wig I longed for. I feel so blessed to wear my Andrew DiSimone masterpiece. I will only wear Andrew's wigs from now on. Thank you Andrew for caring so much. I have so much respect for you. You're Awesome!

This thank you is long overdue! About 2 years Andrew saved my life. More specifically, he saved my quality of life. I am a mother of 4 and I wanted to protect my kids from my recent cancer diagnosis. I sent Andrew an email telling him that I wanted to protect my children and hide my hair loss. He said he would take care of me and he did! I flew to his salon in New York and he matched up my color so I had a perfect head of hair ready when my hair started falling out. It has been such a challenging road for me, but miraculously my children and parents still don't know about my hair loss- the wig has protected them just as he promised it would! I'm in remission now and my hair is slowly growing back. Thank you Andrew and your wonderful staff for all you did for me and for your generous gifts of wigs to children fighting cancer. God Bless you always!
