This is good news!
That's not quite true.
He's not involved in:
Iron Man 3 (May 2013)
Thor: The Dark World (November 2013)

AFAIK, Edgar Wright was the one that would direct Ant-Man (2014) nor was he mentioned in the announcement of Guardian of the Galaxy (2014).. I'm not even mentioning the other movies planned by other studios such as X-Men: First Class 2, Wolverine or The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

In the end, he doesn't seem involved in much.
The idea isn't that he's directing them, but it sounds like he's helping Marvel plan the whole chronology of their movie (and apparently TV?) universe going forward. And yes, this is separate from X-Men and the other studios, he has nothing to do with that.
Right. I didn't think he could help them weave the marvel filmverse. You might be right.. but I was in the impression that he was simply going to be working on the TV-Series and the Avengers 2 movies. From the article.
This was the quote that kind of hinted at what I said:

"He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.”

That could mean a lot of things, but I think as the person writing/directing Avengers, he's in a good spot to help creatively direct where the other movies go so that everything ties in nicely. You wouldn't want the director of the Hulk to send the Hulk to another planet (a la Planet Hulk from the comics) if they wanted him to be in the next Avengers movie.
