Hi! My name is Whitney Hoffman, and I’ve been involved in New Media and Social Media for the past five years, both as a content producer and as the organizer of digital media conferences. I’ve organized Podcamp community new media conferences in Philadelphia, New York and Boston, and as Director of Operations for the Podcamp Foundation, I regularly consult with organizers of similar conferences in other cities around the Country.
I am the CEO of Hoffman Digital Media, LLC, helping businesses maximize the value of their online presence, including both their traditional websites and social media integration. I also produce podcasts, including OB GYN To Go, geared towards medical resident education, and the LD Podcast, an internet
radio show about learning and learning disabilities featuring interviews, that
features interviews I’ve conducted with well-known experts including Dr. Robert
Brooks, Anne Ford, and Marcus Buckingham, as well as educators and specialists
in the learning field.
My education and my experience being the parent of two boys with learning disabilities has driven my interest in helping other parents and educators find the best tools available to help their children bridge the gap between failure and success in school.
I have co-written The Differentiated Instruction Book of Lists with Jenifer Fox for Jossey Bass, Wiley's education division. Our book helps teachers understand each child's learning needs and help make the small alterations in the curriculum necessary to help every child maximize their learning in the classroom.
I speak regularly to business groups and have done a Social Media series for AGS University, spoken at Ignite Wilmington about unconferences, and The New Castle County Chamber of Commerce on Social Media 101 for Businesses.
I’ve spoken at many blogging and Podcasting
conferences, including BlogPhiladelphia, Podcamp conferences, Web 2Open in NYC in 2009, and at Podcasters
Across Borders 2008 and 2009 in
I have an undergraduate degree in developmental biology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a JD from the Dickinson School of Law of Penn State. I co-wrote Public Assembly Facility Law with Turner D. Madden for the International Association of Assembly Managers and presented at their annual conference. While working with Mr. Madden, I helped design the Americans with Disabilities Act access program for the National Football League and the SuperBowl, as well as providing on-site services for the event for eight years.
I’ve blogged for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philly.com as part of Philadelphia’s Great Expectations Project. My personal new media projects include my personal blog, discussing finance, business, social media and more which can be found at www.whitneyhoffman.com.
