Basketball? Check. Lacrosse? Check. Bumper Cars? Another resounding check. So how exactly did a game with a mixed bag of rules and strategies, incorporating many different sports come about?

Our History:

It all began with a simple question. Where could a large group of people in need of a good time, yet unable to do so outside for months on end, go in their time of need? Lombard, Illinois of course! In 1993, Sam Elias, our founder, moved from Florida to Chicago in order to bring to the people the thing that they so desperately desired: 4,000 square feet of pure bumping, crossing, slam dunking bliss, all without the possibility of being arrested. Thus an idea was born.

Sam realized that the nine to fivers out there needed a release, and something else to do rather than Tuesday night bowling. That idea and that desire turned out to be even greater than Sam ever could have expected. Three years later another location was added near downtown Chicago and eight years after that a third made its way into the world in Vernon Hills. If that were not enough, just to make sure that all bases had been fully covered and to the glee of adrenaline junkies everywhere, a laser tag facility and a climbing wall were thrown into the batch. WhirlyBall’s main goal is to ensure that you above all have fun while you are here and always leave with a smile on your face.

So if your friend has ever asked how and why someone could dream up such a thing, bring them on down and show them for yourself, just make sure they are on the opposite team!

If you're bored of simply just going to the various Chicago bar districts for a night out, Whirlyball is worth a visit. Laser tag, whirlyball and bowling all available in one place make for some good old fashioned fun for folk looking for something different. This place has a extensive list of craft beers on tap fueling competition to higher and more entertaining levels.

Have you ever played? You need to do it at least once. Whirlyball beit for company functions or just friends having fun gives you a legitimate excuse to bump, push, and race your peers. Even if you're terrible and your team loses every round, it's a good time. I am a disadvantaged short arm person but do what I can to run some hard defensive driving. You'll be amazed at how fast your game begins and ends. Other reviews note that the place smells. This is true, it's the smell of competition... and burning electric engine parts along with burnt rubber. You kind sorta get used to it after 5 minutes but I could see how it could cause some sensitive noses some grief. This place has a bar ... they also have a kitchen but I urge you to stick to *simple* drinks at the bar. Think mid-shelf liquor XYZ and soda or stick to beer. They have a pretty good tap list. I did see that they are trying to charge "cover" on weekend nights if you're not scheduled to play. That's pretty ridiculous.

If you live in Chicago long enough you'll come here for a team building outing or birthday party. The building is located off of an industrial strip of Fullerton and is partitioned off into sections for WhirlyBall, arcade games and laser tag. The facilities leave a bit to be desired (mediocre food, dusty equipment) but the staff is very helpful and after running around you'll stop noticing the shortcomings.

I went to whirlyball once with a team outing. I have never heard such a thing until people started talking about it. And the game itself is soo much fun to do.

Friend had a private party here, two hour package: WhirlyBall court & two bowling lanes. - They would only give us a wristband deal if EVERYONE purchased it including people that were not drinking. -Initially 1 out of our 2 bowling lanes was down and took a very long time to fix. They added the downtime back to our party package but, it didn't matter. The bowling lanes would shut down or restart sporadically during game play. -WhirlyBall progressively got worse. The first two games were fun for everyone. By the end of the night the Ref/Service Tech were pushing the bumper cars around the court because they wouldn't function properly. -Service was poor -Parking is a disaster -Really nice building, nice furniture, clean, -Go to Lombard Whirlyball instead.

I have had fun playing there. Friendly stuff, decent price. The only thing I didn't like was that the place is king of old and it needs some renewal. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun, and that's why it's 5 stars.

Why isn't this an Olympic Sport yet? People would actually watch this on TV plus it would actually give all of us a chance to win a medal. It's the perfect sport. You can eat fried foods and drink beer and still be the top athlete in Whirlyball. There is no need for HGS or steroids in this sport. It's pure and honest. For those who have no idea what this sport is. You play on a team but your in your own vehicle. It's similar to a bumper car. You have a racket in one hand and you use that to pass a whiffle ball to teammates as you try to score a goal. It's like basketball with a goal on each end of the floor. There's a score board too. We like to take a beer break at halftime. See its the best sport ever! So if your looking for a fun activity then give this place a Whirl. It's great for a group of friends to get together. I've attended a bachelor party here. It was a great alternative to standing around in a bar, which we ended up doing after hanging out here. It's fun because it gets that competitive nature going. It also can get a little bloody when your buddy decides to take your arm off with a racket. This is where the fun sport turns into a Ben Stiller movie.
