Basketball? Check. Lacrosse? Check. Bumper Cars? Another resounding check. So how exactly did a game with a mixed bag of rules and strategies, incorporating many different sports come about?

Our History:

It all began with a simple question. Where could a large group of people in need of a good time, yet unable to do so outside for months on end, go in their time of need? Lombard, Illinois of course! In 1993, Sam Elias, our founder, moved from Florida to Chicago in order to bring to the people the thing that they so desperately desired: 4,000 square feet of pure bumping, crossing, slam dunking bliss, all without the possibility of being arrested. Thus an idea was born.

Sam realized that the nine to fivers out there needed a release, and something else to do rather than Tuesday night bowling. That idea and that desire turned out to be even greater than Sam ever could have expected. Three years later another location was added near downtown Chicago and eight years after that a third made its way into the world in Vernon Hills. If that were not enough, just to make sure that all bases had been fully covered and to the glee of adrenaline junkies everywhere, a laser tag facility and a climbing wall were thrown into the batch. WhirlyBall’s main goal is to ensure that you above all have fun while you are here and always leave with a smile on your face.

So if your friend has ever asked how and why someone could dream up such a thing, bring them on down and show them for yourself, just make sure they are on the opposite team!

Let me start off with that I have been to whirly ball many other times at other locations. So today we came here to party with friends and play whirly ball for a couple hours. unfortunately in every game we played we had atleast 3 carts that were malfunctioning or totally broken down complete with the drive belt getting kicked off the motors on a couple carts. I would not come back to this whirly ball location. There are better locations with better management. The waitress never came to by to serve our table either. I would have bought a couple beers but she only came by once when we first got there and didn't come by again. Management would not even give us any sort of refund for the problems claiming its not their fault. Go some where else.

They are extremely racist. At the door friends where turned around because of sweat pants. An hour later other people with the same attire had no problem. When asked about it they claimed it's because of an reservation. After an exchange of words an employee provoked an physical altercation. I will be calling the bbb.
Response from the owner - 3 weeks ago
After reviewing our security video, it was clear you and your friends were enjoying bowling at WhirlyBall for more than an hour. Then, when someone was turned away at the door for inappropriate attire, you became abusive, intentionally smashed glassware and threw bowling shoes at our staff. It was after this unacceptable demonstration you and your group were asked to leave.

Service was terrible. I came for a party and we were supposed to have a server and we did not see them once. While we were playing whirly ball half the cars did not work 90% of the time. If you like to sit in a bumper car and do nothing than come here.

Nice place, and a fun experience, but greedy owners, and a complete lack of customer service skills left a bad taste. Sadly, I will not be back.

Whirleyball is a lot of fun, but I would recommend going elsewhere. The carts consistently failed to work so we had about 2 people a game that couldn't even play on their turn. We complained to the management and they did not offer a reasonable refund or tradeoff for the carts not working. If you want to actually play Whirleyball, go somewhere else.

I came here with about 50 people for a corporate event. They prepared a dinner and a Whirlyball court for us. 1. Food Mediocre. We had burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and some other things. The chips were pretty good. 2. Lasertag Fun. The arena could have been a bit more convoluted, but I still had a good time. The guy forgot to tell me that I had to hold down the two buttons at the front to shoot, so my score the first game was pretty bad. 3. Pool okay. Tables were a bit dirty, and they cost $2 per play. 4. DDR I played a game and got my ass kicked. I blame having to stomp on the arrows to get them to trigger. Unfortunately, I didn't play Whirlyball, but it looked pretty good since their baskets had sensors.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Not worth it. Never even received our appetizers or drink/food menus and chipped my tooth on their fish sandwich! I have no idea what was in there, but chipped my front tooth.
