http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/117602

TODAY at 10AM PDT/1PM EDT * Note special day and time***

Many people now recognize, accept and endorse the treatment of mental illness, yet mental health prejudices and stigmas still persist, according to research from the American Journal of Public Health.
Three important areas of education have been identified to help truly bust mental health stigma. Join us as we discuss what causes and how we can help destroy mental health stigma starting in our own homes.

45 minutes to show time! 30 minutes until pre show antics.

Every Saturday at 8AM Pacific/11AM EST is Chronic Chronicles, the Chronically Awesome Podcast!
Join us on May 4th for Episode 61: May The Fourth Be With You: Guilty Pleasures
Episode Notes: May 4th. You DO know what today is right? It's Star Wars Day... May the 4th be with you! As health advocates, why should we care? UGH Really? Everyone should care! No seriously, here is why: Some of us are Star Wars Geeks, or Doctor Who Geeks. Some of us like Soap Operas or Reality TV. Who amongst us readily admit to reading trashy romances? You? Ok fine but most don't. Guilty pleasures, they do more than give us hours of enjoyment that can be just ours for that time we spend with our secret (or not so secret) friend. And even better for the chronically awesome: these pleasures, distraction from reality, can for that time make us feel better. So, don't feel so guilty about that guilty pleasure, it could be almost as good as a prescription!

The professional patient knows how to rock the exam table.
The professional patient also knows to bring reading material to the exam table for those times you lay partially disrobed for nearly 45 minutes waiting for the doctor.
This never happens at my GP. My GP's office has a 5 min wait policy and has never failed to see me 5 min BEFOREHAND my scheduled time. My doctor retrieves me from the lobby and does not leave me to wait in the exam room (which is 1/2 her office as well)

This was a pretty special specialist so I didn't complain.
When they have sharp objects near important parts, just stay cool, calm, and #ChronicallyAwesome.

Today is Rare Disease Day. #RDD2015 #NORD
I have a rare disease. I can tell you first hand that it is hard. Please support someone with a rare disease. Having a rare disease can feel very lonely, very painful, and very frightening.
Just a hug. A phone call. Acknowledgment.

New blog post for your enjoyment.
How a conversation with my sister turned into a blog about changing nature of the "traditional" family.

While this post discusses alternative treatments to stress, and not everyone is in to that, there is a more important and well developed discussion in this article to read: the impact of stress on the body. Take a look at how stress impacts the many systems of your body, including your immune system.
