You see all these previous reviews were from some time ago.. West point now i believe only has two instructors Mike and Damien. I originally had Mike and my goodness he is an HORRIBLE instructor... Please don't use West point because chances are you will get Mike.. He is an former cop and this was my following experience... -Screams and passively glares at you if you do anything wrong or not to his liking instead of being an respective adult and telling you in a proper manner -Makes you feel very uncomfortable and belittles you for not knowing how to drive when you a new driver -As a new driver you are already anxious and very scared of driving and Mike only adds pressure and does NOT instruct you very well. Its not that Mike is being hard on the rules or just making you a better driver, the way he treats his students is very degrading.. Literally after my first lesson i was crying my eyes out because of such an experience.. I seriously did not want to learn how to drive because of my first lesson. With my horrible experience with Mike i called to change my instructor with Damien which was much much more successful, Damien is a very patient and firm which is a great balance. But still as a business it should be a golden rule to treat your customers with respect and make them feel at ease, I was still disappointed and thought it was ridiculous that i had to change my instructor because Mike was being an ass. Go with a different driving school because chances are Mike will be your instructor. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

Response from the owner - 4 months ago
Ms. Kang posted this review two years after her only lesson with Mike. The lesson was on 9/7/2012. So it's surprising that she opens with "You see all these previous reviews were from some time ago." Ms. Kang did express dissatisfaction with her first lesson. We are always happy to refund for unused lessons, so she could have finished with another school, but her family did not choose that option. Instead, we gladly sent a new instructor, Damian. As Ms. Kang's review states, those lessons were "much more successful." I thought the issue was resolved. But here I am two years later, responding to a scathing review. It's clear there was some kind of personality conflict that day. Mike has always been very well-reviewed, as you can see on this and other review pages. I am absolutely sure no "screaming", "glaring", or "belittling" took place. After so much time, Ms. Kang would have no idea if Mike or Damian are still with us, but I am PROUD to say Mike is still on board, and still getting consistent excellent reviews which cite his patience, friendliness, and results. If anyone doesn't wish to be trained by Mike, we will gladly accommodate your request. And if you DO request Mike by name (depending on availability) you'll have an excellent instructor. He's a retired police officer with over 20 years experience and a teaching background. I'd like to remind the reader that West Point is the only school in Sacramento to welcome parents to ride along, because it helps keep everyone on the same page, and parents deserve to know what they're paying for. Perhaps if Ms. Kang's parents had taken this option, this review may not have been posted.

Great experience from start to finish. Paul, the owner, was my instructor from the beginning. He was patient and would explain or demonstrate anything as many times as I needed until I got it. I was never pushed to buy more lessons than I needed and I always felt that they really cared how my lessons were going. I would recommend this school to anyone and I actually already have.

I had no driving experience at all when I started taking lessons so was a little nervous but my instructor made me feel at ease and confident from the very first lesson. I would definately refer any of my friends or family to West Point for tuition.

I highly recommend West Point Driving school. As a parent I was welcomed and even encouraged to ride along so I knew what my Son needed to work on. Mike, a retired officer was his instructor. Ask for him, he is a great instructor with tons of experience & patience. Another thing I liked about West Point was they were teaching him to drive, not just pass the test. He also got plenty of freeway time, something other schools charge extra for. Three days after his last session he passed his test on his first try. Thank you Mike and West Point Driving school.

Really had a great experience with West Point! My daughter took her first lesson and really loved her kind, patient instructor! Then, my son wrecked his car and since we don't know when we will be able to replace it, we called the school & asked them to refund our 2 unused lessons. The check was in the mail the very next day. I will not hesitate to use West Point again once we have replaced our teen's car. I loved the fact that we COULD drive along had we wanted to ~ not that I wanted to!!! Scary thought!!! This school was so much better than the one we used for my son and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Totally professional. Tamara - Penryn, CA October 2011
