Shout out to the interesting innovative work of colleague Stephen Cross at the unassuming floathouse and aquaculture site on the north side of Surprise Island in Kyuquot. Most people speed past in their boats without knowing the international significance of the techniques he's pioneering in sustainable and integrated aquaculture - good for food production and good for the ocean and our health. Had a great visit with Stephen last September, and will need to integrate a stop there with some of our tours.

This is long overdue and and overall a huge milestone given the myriad of interests. Though adjacent to where we operate in Kyuquot, "everything is one", so we're grateful for the vision, persistence, collaboration and progress from where things were otherwise headed. Hard fought by many whom we deeply respect. Thank you to our First Nations, tourism, government, ENGO, and industry friends and colleagues. http://ow.ly/XSrGm

Sweet surprise to be profiled in the Alumni Magazine for UofGuelph! And couldn't be living this 'job' without Caroline, Morgan, family, staff, partners, and some amazing community support in Kyuquot - thank you to everyone who makes it all come together!

Appreciating some recent visits with Kyuquot family, Chris and Vic, while they're in and out of town navigating some health challenges. They've fed my family and hundreds of WCE guests over 20 years, so great that our potato leek soup (Vic's fave) and some WCE jackets can be keeping them warm this fall and into winter!
