First ever Dribbble meetup in Cape Town! +Candice Harper
Dribbble Meetups are a chance for designers to socialise, talk shop, and foster their local design communities. Thousands of designers worldwide attend Dribbble Meetups each year and for the first time we have one taking place in Cape Town. We have talented speakers lined up, a Dribbble competition with prizes to be won, Dribbble kits and of course…free drinks and pizza. What: 3 Lightning Talks (Topics to be confirmed) Speakers:  • Tshepo Mohlala...

I have a very simple question. When onboarding new users to your app, is it necessary to give them the option of redoing the onboarding process further down the line? Particularly a sequence of UI tooltips.

Thanks for everyone who voted and shared their thoughts :) I tried keeping it very general and am surprised that portrait even got as many votes as it did; even though I myself prefer portrait. It's great to hear your comments.

Something that I can take away from this is that navigating a site/UI or completing an action, landscape is the preferred orientation where as for reading/chat purposes, portrait will always take the lead.

Thanks to everyone who participated :)

Wow, this post really makes me proud to have the Strategic theme.
What does ‘The Italian Job’ have to to do with Strengthsfinder’s Strategic theme? It’s all about being able to find the best route to get a job done.

Goodness Gracious Upgrade!!! Love it
At Google we say, “Focus on the user and all else will follow.” With this in mind, we seek to design experiences that inspire and enlighten our users.

Finding something takes a whole different mindset than doing something. So why should user interfaces be any different?

+Rian van der Merwe explains how he uses what he calls Regressive disclosure to solve a complex interface design challenge.

Great post on why we as designers need to spend more time thinking about the initial or empty states of elements when designing.

"Empty states are actually full of potential to drive engagement, delight users, and retain users at critical moments"
