As developers I feel that we can always be doing more to improve the security of our web apps - and we have to remember that the user is often their own worst enemy when it comes to security. One of the simplest ways that we can help things get better is to build apps that encourage strong passwords (and not allow weak ones). A good description of strong passwords is shown in the article - but how can we make sure they get implemented? Requiring a strong password at verification is a good start but some other steps could be: allowing 2-factor authentication and implementing user management so that people don't have to share passwords.
Passwords are usually the first line of defense in the world of online security and we are constantly amazed how weak some people's passwords are. The excuse is often convenience. However, easy and convenient management of strong passwords is possible - see how...

Really useful little video on choosing a doctype and specifying metadata when building your own HTML emails. People would have you think that HTML emails are a minefield but this seems pretty straightforward and makes me wonder what all the fuss is about. Here's a link to the post with the code in for anyone that wants to just copy/paste:

We often get the question "what language should I learn" in this community. If the growth of a language is a factor that you'd consider important when making the decision then the results from this survey are worth a look - quite a specific sample was used so you can take some of the results with a pinch of salt. Some really interesting results nonetheless...

Great article on using Socratic Inquiry for learning to code...
Socratic Inquiry, learning by asking a series of leading questions, is a great way to teach coding...

Question - I manage multiple Google Plus business pages and usually this involves a client making me a manager of their G+ page. When trying to access these pages on mobile (android app) I am running into difficulties - usually I click on the profile and select 'switch Google plus page' and then choose from a drop down menu... but the page I am trying to select isn't in the list.

Why is this and what should I do?

Question - I wonder if some of the experienced spannermen here can help...

I have just bought a pair of used wheels on eBay for my trackday bike - I plan on using them for wets on wheels as the weather is pretty unpredictable in Scotland even in summer.

So they arrived today and the rear seems fine but the front is not completely true - there is a small bump were it looks like the rim has taken a knock (right hand side in the video which shows the wheel spinning on a wheel balancer) . The defect seems very minor though (1 or 2 mm max) and I am wondering if there will be any effects from this?

Should I send it back or is it nothing to worry about???

Thanks!

I don't see why Mozilla expected anything else - of course MS are going to push their own browser... won't make it any more popular with users who know what they're doing though.
