The "Waze.Tools server is down!" explanation:

More and more frequently some of you ask me to check the Waze.Tools web site because "it's down". Well, most of you are right... but have you noticed that all the downtime is always between 23:10 GMT and 23:15 GMT?

Now it's time to reveal a little secret (ok, ok, it's not a secret, only a not-well-known info): EVERY night, at 00:10 CET, we shutdown our apache server to run various updates and maintenance tasks, and... no, I don't wake up every night at midnight to press that button, it's an automatic process.

Usually the downtime takes no more than 3 minutes, so... if you are a calm and relaxed guy just wait, else... you have only 3 minutes: go out (run), take a quick coffe and then come back to your pc.

Obviously, since I'm Italian, I suggest you to sit down, relax, and sip your coffe. This not only will decrease your stress level, but probably also the values of your cholesterol and triglycerides. Maybe.

Ciao...

We have scheduled a small downtime (less than 30 minutes) for software updates on the hypervisor from 2016-11-30 23:00 and 2016-12-01 03:00 UTC. We expect there to be very minimal downtime. Please be patient, we'll be up and running as soon as possible.

We are experiencing some #network #issues on the #email side, and we're investigating. We'll keep you updated.

HTTPS forum issue on SIGN

As you may know the signature icons for the Waze forum are no longer working. This is related to the fact that the forum now needs a HTTPS server to retrieve the signature images (although someone must explain to me WHY THE HELL...), and sign.waze.tools is still served in HTTP.

The good news: We are working on it, don't worry.

The bad news: This will not be done in few hours, but more probably using the "waze standard time" (in other words: soon) and according to my spare time.

If you want to help us you can: a) keep your fingers crossed (both hands) until we release the new version, or b) turn on a candle in the nearest church. Maybe it helps.

Hello, guys... Glad to say that we have some news about the Waze.Tools Suite! Starting today you can find online the new beta version of MNTR, the Mentoring Manager Application, we have an increased bandwidth and other minor enhancements.

Here the major changes and/or new functions:

() Some applications (SIGN and MNTR) are now hosted in a new datacenter located in Frankfurt (DE) with more bandwidth available (increased from 100 Mb/s to 1 Gb/s). We have chosen the new hosting DC for its geographic location: it's in the middle of Europe and connected to the external world via DE-CIX, reducing the access and download time for the majority of you.

() We planned a migration of all the other apps on the same new location "soon" (sorry for the bad word, I meant in 3 or 4 weeks).

() The MNTR app now accept the creation of unknown users, giving the ability to manage users even in those countries where we do not already have a list of active users.

() The old SIGN and MNTR application now are offline, but all the data has been migrated to the new app.

() Remember that you need to upgrade the old SIGN icons you are using for your signature in the Waze forum to the new platform. The old repository will be shut down at the end of this year.

() The old issue tracking system will be changed from code.google.com to BitBucket because Google Code will close on January 25th, 2016

(-) Other minor enhancements, like the new layout and a more friendly interface on most apps

Last but not least, we need your contribution to discover hidden bugs and malfunctions. Most apps are still in beta version, and we want to be sure to have a stable product before going GA.

Thank you all for your support.
I'm sure that together we can create a great product available to the whole Waze community and, first of all, free.
