- I watched this last night, so now I don't remember everything, but here's what I do remember thinking as I listened.... and the written part of the languages didn't change my thinking based on listening:
1. animal - African?
2. pidgin of some sort, with english as part of the pidgin
3. African language because of the clicks
4. Czech or Polish
So - I did pretty good, I think, but not great.3d
- Verry good,. I was really thrown off by the pidgin. I noticed the English, of course, but, at first I thought there might be some French in it, and then later I thought it was Indonesian or some Polynesian-type language. Which I guess wasn't a terrible guess, since Papua New Guinea is in the general part of the world where Indonesia is. For the African language, I immediately recognized it as a sub-saharan African language, but not because of the clicks -- in fact I didn't even hear the clicks. I thought it was probably West Africa, and I was wrong, it's in the southern part of Africa. And for the last one, I immediately recognized it as related to Russian, therefore a Slavic language. I knew it wasn't Czech. I was rather embarrassed to find out it was Polish, because I'm Polish. (Well, my grandparent on my dad's side were Polish and that's where my name comes from). I didn't recognize the language associated with my own DNA. Bah!3d
