Waves4Power announces that the first tests of wave power at Runde are now accomplished.

Due to damage to the mooring lines of the WaveEL 3.0 buoy we have now chosen to tow the buoy to Fiskåholmen earlier than planned. We are now making a thorough analysis of the mooring system and an assessment of what has happened and how the damage has occurred. Once this work is completed we will make more information available. The buoy itself is intact. We are also pleased to note that we have collected all the important data needed for our further work with the next generation of wave power plants from Waves4Power. http://ow.ly/Po7A30gSdqM

Five Months and Going Strong
Five months has passed since Waves4Power connected the wave power plant at Runde to the Norwegian power grid. And it’s over a month since King Harald V – on site in Fosnavåg – inaugurated the continued goal of wave power industrialization in Norway.
The wave climate has varied greatly during the five months of interconnection, but we are pleased to note that things are working according to plan.

Frederic Hauge, founder and president of Bellona attended the Royal Opening of the Waves4Power wave power site at Runde, Norway, September 21. The work of the Bellona foundation has led to concrete changes in environmental policy and awareness among political and business leaders, both in Norway and internationally. Frederic Hauge have among other things been Vice Chairman of the European Commission’s Technology Platform for CO2 sequestration (ZEP) and in 2011 he was asked to be one of the 12 personal advisors to the EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger on the extensive EU Energy Roadmap 2050.
