#music   #reissues   #albums   #90s
Cast have released deluxe editions of their first four albums, and these are must-haves if you care about guitar music. I love this stuff, and I'm sad because I missed out when they were just getting big.

This is the colorful language of someone who is understating things: As Donald Trump continues to dominate the Republican presidential race, frustration and panic have become high enough to make some inside the party Establishment pine for a candidate they roundly rejected as recently as January: Mitt Romney. Romney himself has become one of Trump’s most vocal detractors inside the party. “He’s someone to whom civility means a lot. T...

It's good to see anything in the press about John Lydon, it truly is: John Lydon, former frontman of the Sex Pistols and author of the new memoir “Anger Is an Energy,” is nearly 60, if you can believe it. His tenth Public Image Limited album, “What the World Needs Now,” drops Friday. The Salon interview is superbly done. They don't fall into any of Johnny's old traps and no one gets slagged off for fun or excitement. Here's a bloke ...

This is the difficult "last" album of Pink Floyd's world-domination run. There are a handful of phases--the early, indulgent experimental albums, with and without the contribution of Syd Barrett, and then the albums released in the 1970s, which topped the charts and made everyone look like an also-ran. The Final Cut was supposed to clear the air in the band and deliver the leftovers from The Wall. Roger Waters unified the material un...

Two views of the same church in Alsace, France, courtesy of Google Street View. Yes, a lot of people got bored with GSV a long time ago, and yes, this is just me mucking about. Enhanced with Photoshop. The poor fellow caught in the first photo stood stock still while the Google Street View car drove past him. Immortalized, yet blurred out. A fate none of us deserve. My guess is that this is a rebuilt church. It's one of those things...

I was going to blog about this and say something really interesting but smartassed and then I realized how awful the writing was so that's my hot take: There is on the edge of the spectrum a thought awakening that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who ran for president in 2008 and 2012, might get back in the race. It comes naturally to think so. Before the race got seriously underway Mr. Romney met with Jeb Bush to consider thei...
