To receive the discount, veterans simply show their VFW card or retired military ID at the ticket booth.

“Behind this special night is a VFW Post 4314 member who has volunteered at The Lights of Christmas for 8 years. He had an idea, talked to us, and then talked to VFW Post 4314, and here we are, doing something special together for veterans from all over,” stated Ed McDowell, Executive Director of Warm Beach Camp.

On Saturday Night, all veterans are invited to come to The Lights of Christmas from 5-10 pm at ½ price. Parking opens at 4:30 pm.

This Veterans day, The Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach Camp want to send a strong message of gratitude for those who have served to guard freedom, fight for what is good, and defend us from what is bad. Fabulous Food at The Lights of Christmas Holiday Festival

Steamed cheeseburgers? Yes, they do exist and the buns are not soggy! Originating in Connecticut during the 1920s, this New England classic makes its debut among the Grub Hub food vendors at The Lights of Christmas in Stanwood, WA. You will find lots of other fabulous food vendors as well. Papa’s Wood Fire Pizza, which became a favorite last year, returns with their Italian specialty. Crunchy sweet Kettle Korn, hot seafood chowder, and Philly steak sandwiches—is your mouth watering yet? You’ll have to save room for a sweet treat such as elephant ears, funnel cake, or deep fried Oreos. S & T Espresso has a wide array of hot drinks to accompany whatever you choose to eat.

You can also enjoy indoor dining and live country entertainment when you eat at Tinhorn Town. Menu options include pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ chicken wings, mashed potatoes, garden wraps, salad, and cobbler for dessert. Your food options continue at Joyland Café which features teriyaki chicken skewers with rice, clam chowder, bread bowls, cheesy broccoli or curry coconut soup, and chicken wingdings, and more. If you prefer just a bite with coffee or cocoa, stop in at the Starry Night Coffeehouse and enjoy the ambience of live music.

Don’t think we forgot the famous mini-donuts! These tasty donuts are made at the Donut Hut right before your eyes and come out hot and ready to devour. You might have to get an extra bag to take home!

10 tips to make the most of your visit to The Lights

Here’s the inside scoop for you to make the most of your visit to The Lights of Christmas! All those who like to plan ahead, keep reading. Those more spontaneous, read on as well because you might be surprised. We asked the experts—staff, volunteers, and guests—who have made The Lights an annual tradition, and these are their best tips:
1. Come early—early in the month, early in the evening, to avoid the larger crowds. Also, Saturday nights are usually the busiest.
2. If donuts are calling your name, head to the Donut Hut first. Another good time to get these tasty treats is around 9:30pm, right before they close.
3. For those meeting up with friends at The Lights, plan to meet in the Joyland courtyard. You may end up parking in different areas and entering the event through different gates. Joyland courtyard is easy to find.
4. Do you have children who love trains? Then, head straight to the Polar Express Train to get in line before it opens at 6:00pm. Follow it up with dinner at Tinhorn Town. Dancing in the aisles is allowed!
5. Pony Rides and Shepherd’s Keep Petting Farm are great to visit between 6:00 – 8:00pm.
6. Engineer Bear and Frolaf the snowman love taking pictures with kiddos. You can find them hanging out in the Joyland courtyard. Note - they are usually on a break 7:00 – 7:30pm.
7. The gift shops at The Lights are a great place for finding fun and unique gifts from local area artesans. Also, they have a 20% off sale after Christmas.
8. There are lots of food options, indoor venues and outdoor vendors. Grab dinner and enjoy entertainment performances at Joyland Concert Hall, Tinhorn Town, or Starry Night Coffeehouse.
9. There's plenty of places to keep warm: seven warming fires throught the event and many indoor event options.
10. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page and blog for up-to-date news, fun contests, photos and more!

There's many other activities and tips to mention, watch for them in future posts. Really, no matter how you decide to experienceThe Lights, it is an evening of magical memories!

Regal Majesty is one of the many groups who have made an overnight getaway to The Lights of Christmas an annual tradition. The pageant royalty love coming to The Lights as a group and having the time to sleep over, usually staying up late and talking well into the night. During the festival the young ladies have a blast taking a group photo with Santa, telling jokes with Bruce the Spruce, making crafts, riding the Polar Express, and eating donuts. They’ve even been spotted dancing with Engineer Bear and Frolaf, the snowman! Coming to The Lights is, as Regal Majesty director, Monica, states, “a magical place.”

Dancing with Frolaf is not required to bring your group or family to The Lights of Christmas for a special getaway. But it could be fun! Senior centers, family reunions, and social clubs all enjoy their group getaway here as a time to take delight in the entertainment, light displays, fun, and food. It is a great deal that includes lodging, admission to the festival, breakfast, and free parking.

Reserve your special getaway at The Lights online at WarmBeachLights.com/Stay-Overnight or by calling 800.228.6724.

The Lights of Christmas presents, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, opening December 4. This inspiring and entertaining holiday classic comes to life as radio theatre at The Lights of Christmas, with a fresh interpretation that has the audience completely caught up in the tale of despair and redemption. You will be transported back to Bedford Falls as the beloved George Bailey is frustrated by financial crises and setbacks. Through the twist and turns of George’s life, you find yourself agonizing with him while cheering him on. The heartwarming ending showcases the love of family and community that is sure to leave you with the ringing of angels getting their wings echoing in your heart.

Play Director, Victoria Ritchey, states, “This is a beautiful story that gives us all worth and value. With the setting of a radio drama, it becomes a history lesson for some, and a pleasant reminder of childhood for others. All ages will enjoy watching and listening to the sound effects being created.” It is important to Victoria to present stories of value and hope, with a high degree of quality. “Giving the audience a special evening to relax, be pampered with a lovely meal, have a few laughs and take home something to think about, is our goal.”

Critics across the country have hailed Joe Landry’s award-winning play adaption of It’s a Wonderful Life. Now, you too can experience this outstanding production in the Baylight Room at The Lights of Christmas. December 4-6, 11-13, 18-20 with Dinner Theatre featuring a five course meal and the play. Sundays feature a Dessert Matinee in the afternoons of December 7, 14, and 21. Reservations may be made at www.WarmBeachLights.com/Holiday-Theatre or by phone at 800.228.6724 ext. 2282.

Have fun volunteering at The Lights of Christmas

Do you wanna build a snowman? Or better yet, be the snowman? Come volunteer at The Lights of Christmas! There are still some openings to be the costume characters, Frolaf or Engineer Bear, during The Lights. For those who prefer working with animals, join the crew at Shepherd’s Keep or Pony Rides. There are also new activities that need volunteers this year such as the Light Maze and Cookie Decorating. And, every year we need lots of help with parking—the perfect job for folks who like to direct others where to go.

We welcome families (even children as young as 6 can help with adult supervision), individuals, civic clubs, youth groups, and pretty much anyone who has a desire to help at the best Christmas festival in the Pacific Northwest. Shifts are usually five hours and include free dinner. Plus, you get a free ticket to come back and enjoy The Lights of Christmas Nightly Festival as our guest.

Come, have some fun with us volunteering at The Lights of Christmas. Sign-up online is fast and easy at http://www.warmbeach.com/lights/volunteer.
