In addition to the method stated in the blog, I have always had success just using the voip.ms DID and the registered POP like this:
<10digitDID>@chicago.voip.ms
also billed at 6c/hour

Correct.  Provided one is already paying for the DID for other purposes, nearly-free inbound comes as a side benefit.  And only from callers that have the '@' key on their phone.
