From the ON1 Photo Raw FAQ:
---
How does it compare to other RAW processors on the market?

The current class of RAW-based photo editors require photographers to catalog their photos, bounce between apps for editing, and forces them to work within the confines of their ecosystem. For years photographers have been asking us for a super fast RAW processor and non-destructive photo editor without the painful import process. This is ON1 Photo RAW. In development for years, ON1 Photo RAW will be the first RAW processor released in more than a decade and feature a new modern RAW processing engine, tuned for today's sensors and graphics chips. Combined with our current set of tools, ON1 Photo RAW will bring photographers the world's fastest, most flexible, and easiest to use RAW processor and photo editor available.
---

I find a contradiction here. They criticize other products for somehow "forcing" you to work within their ecosystem, yet they extoll as a virtue that the new ON1 Photo Raw will let you work entirely within the ON1 ecosystem.

I also find it interesting that they criticize cataloging images. Pros need catalogs. They need to manage metadata, leverage controlled vocabularies, use this information to filter and find images for client queries.

Am I alone in this?

Their claim is "in a decade". If DxO is over a decade old, then they are still correct. If not, then you are correct

I am anxious to see what ON1 releases and I do welcome the competition. I just find it a bit contradictory to say others somehow force you to work in their ecosystem, yet espouse that as a benefit ON1 Photo Raw.

A better way for them to market it would be that you normally have to leave the ecosystem of other products to use their tool, and with ON1 Photo Raw you won't have to do that because you can work in ON1 start to finish.

Here are a couple of portraits from a recent photo outing with a friend of mine. I'm the light haired person. All captured with a Nikon D800, Nikon 70-200/2.8 VR, Circular Polarizer, off-camera Nikon SB-800 flash to camera left. Processed entirely in Capture One Pro 9.

PhaseOne released Capture One Pro 9.2 yesterday. It includes improvements for hardware acceleration and retina display Mac systems. Has anyone downloaded and tested it? It seems better behaved on my retina MacBook Pro laptops.

Used tethering for the first time today. Details about this tabletop setup:

My kitchen table
Next to my sliding glass door, translucent shade closed
Nikon D800 body
Nikon 70-200/2.8
Kenko 36mm extension tube
tabletop tripod
capture one tethering
camera mirror lockup

Excellent customer service. Jennifer promptly replied to my initial inquiry and maintained constant communication from initial inquiry through completion of the job. I had a large chipped area in a porcelain tub. JeLani came out and did a first class job repairing it. The charge was fair and they worked with me to meet my availability. Definitely would recommend Porcelain Tub Restorations to others.

Excellent florist. I have been using them for more than 10 years. Birthdays, Valentines Day, Anniversaries. Whether I need roses or arrangements, they always come through with fresh flora. Customer service is top notch as well. I once had an arrangement that didn't last but a day or two. They replaced it at no cost and the replacement lasted over two weeks.
