Another day another gun violence tragedy, which invariably rekindles the gun control debate once again. It is worth noting that Americans are not in favor of more gun controls (see Gallup polls) for good reason, namely, the pro-gun control advocates have not made a convincing case of linking guns with more violence.

Focusing the discussion around gun control runs the risk of relegating the causes of violence as a secondary, rather than, the primary issue. As far as the violence-prone individual is concerned, guns are just one of many means to an end. I for one remain unconvinced that more gun control will do much good in reducing violence overall.

According to this Harvard study, "homicide results suggest that where guns are scarce other weapons are substituted in killings... For example, Luxembourg, where handguns are totally banned and ownership of any kind of gun is minimal, had a murder rate nine times higher than Germany in 2002".

The research is quite revealing; it challenges conventional wisdom on this issue, concludng that, "the burden of proof rests on the proponents of the more guns equal more death and fewer guns equal less death mantra, especially since they argue public policy ought to be based on that mantra. To bear that burden would at the very least require showing that a large number of nations with more guns have more death and that nations that have imposed stringent gun controls have achieved substantial reductions in criminal violence (or suicide). But those correlations are not observed when a large number of nations are compared across the world. http://hvrd.me/ThM4xq #SchoolShooting

ATTENTION GOOGLE VOICE USERS (or anyone NOT YET using Google Voice - https://www.google.com/voice)

How to have FREE home or office telephone service
(where you pick up a regular desk phone and get a dial tone)

For those paying Vonage or any VoIP service (like your TV or Internet cable service offered you a bundle/combo with Digital Phone??). Well... you're throwing money away.

As you probably know... Google Voice is FREE (US and Canada calls) and extremely cheap to call international.

If you wish to have a regular home/office phone that gives you a dial tone to initiate a call with your Google Voice, then you should know about the OBi110 Adapter.

After my previous VoIP adapter died earlier this year, (a Sipura Linksys SPA-2100) that I had successfully been using with my GV for 2 years..... I was about to purchase a new one, when someone told me about the OBi110.

It is really AMAZING!!! I've had my OBi110 since March of this year, and it was the easiest setup/configuration that I have ever done in my life!!! So easy a Cavewoman could do it!!! Really... I had a Google Voice dial tone on my home cordless phone in less than 10 minutes after plugging the box in!!!

My previous setup with GV to work with my home phone took me DAYS to configure, because I had to use it in conjunction with Sipgate, Sipsorcery and a dial plan. All 3 of these needed to work together just so I could have GV on a regular phone and be able to dial out easily.

Sooooo... Go to Amazon.com (link below), spend a one time $50 for the OBi110 adapter and enjoy! No more monthly VoIP payments.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask...

Click here to purchase a OBi110: (read the Reviews there!!!)

(in case you are wondering if I am MAKING MONEY off of this... either you go to my original post (if this is a Share) and read a response I gave to someone who asked me this question.. or simply go to www.amazon.com and do a search for OBi110. Pick the one that costs $49.99 and you'll see that the URL is the same as the one I posted here).

IMPORTANT NOTE - Google Voice does not offer 911 service!! Though there are some alternatives. Read comments on my original post if this is the Shared one.
