My Photography Sites:
I strive to create nontraditional images and scenes in locations that most people will never have the pleasure to see. I explore locations that have been abandoned to create collections of images that tell a story to the viewer both singularly and as a whole. These abandoned buildings and locations speak volumes when you enter them, even in their abandoned and decaying state. Every room you look into tells a story and every artifact from a bygone era holds years of meaning and purpose. I enjoy searching for beauty in uncommon places and by doing so, help to preserve the history, memory and spirit that still shines ever so faint in the dust and decay of these modern ruins.
I first became interested in photography about 10 years ago. I was always drawn to the unusual as well as the more traditional pictures. I often look for and try to capture the abstract within the natural. I am blessed to be living in beautiful Western North Carolina, a region with hundreds of waterfalls and amazing mountain vistas. While I find it fun and challenging to hike these hills and photograph the beauty of the area, I often find just as much inspiration in an old abandoned house, or a detail on a rusty piece of machinery. Standing behind the camera, I try to slow down and look deeply. There is beauty to be found in unexpected places and things. We see it every day but often fail to recognize it. By triggering the shutter, I attempt to take a piece of it away with me.
