Mobile and affordable vaccine clinics?

Several vaccine reactions happen within hours of vaccination. The mobile vaccine clinics in pet stores may no longer be there at that location, when the reaction happens. This may lead to the delay and the death of pets or to the expensive emergency clinic bills. Often mobile vaccine clinics are not fully equipped to deal with fatal shock reactions from vaccines.

Several affordable vaccine clinics tend to travel from location to location carrying vaccines in a cooler. The temperature of the cooler may vary tremendously over the day with repeated opening and closing causing the vaccines to loose efficacy.

Some clinics perform anywhere from 30 to 40 vaccinations in the scheduled hour to hour and half window in the pet stores. Doctors working in mobile vaccine clinics are often over-scheduled and do not have time to perform a thorough risk analysis and complete physical exam before vaccination.

Vaccine complications include allergic reactions, vaccine induced cancers and failure to confer immunity. Vaccine manufacturing companies should also be chosen wisely depending on available data for percentage of vaccine reactions and failure rate. Good vaccines from reputed companies with low failure and low reaction rates are not cheap. At Walnut Street Animal Hospital, we do not compromise on the safety of your pets and we offer the best.

PET MICROCHIPPING:

#PetMicrochip #Microchip #AniamalHospitalCary #VetCary #Vetnearme

What is a Microchip?
Microchip is a small device implanted under the skin of your pet typically on the back, between the shoulder blades.

How does Microchip work?
Microchip stores a unique identification number and more recent ones can also store information including owners’ phone number and address which is to be custom programmed into each chip.
This unique identification is stored along with clients Address and phone number in one of the several online databases which can be searched, some can be searched directly through google search. When your pet is lost, and found by someone if they take the pet to a facility with scanner (Eg: Animal hospital, shelter, pet stores, etc), they can scan the chip and read the number. Once they search the number against online search engines or databases they get pet owners information.
Some inexpensive microchips do not provide free onetime registration and require owners to pay yearly subscription online to store their details in database.

Pitfalls of Microchipping:
Failure to register owner’s details mapped to chip number with online database, makes the chip useless.
Change of ownership information needs to be updated with the online database, failure to do so may point to original owner information.
If the person who found the pet does not scan or do not intend to find the original owners, the pet may not be recovered.

Why Microchip?
No matter how cautious owners are, pets can be lost during, natural disasters, fireworks and during accidents. Microchips increase their chances of returning back home even though they are not fool proof.
A simple google search will show hundreds of soul-warming, lost-pet reunion stories because of microchips.

What about GPS?
Pet microchips do not need batteries, they are activated by scanners using radio frequency technology. GPS devices need batteries so they either need to be recharged or replaced. This is also the reason why GPS devices cannot be implanted and are often placed in the collars and not as advantageous as microchips.
