World renowned musical, Hair has been steadily influencing society and taking audiences by storm since its 1967 debut. One niche group that’s fully embraced the sounds of Hair is hip hop. Samples from the production have made their way into numerous hip hop classics, with no qualms or nod of appreciation from the genius behind it all.
The entire production was scored by Canadian composer Galt Macdermot, who has virtually become a recluse having never provided an interview or appeared in the limelight to bask in his success. European “Ideas & Solutions,” boutique Gasface created an engaging documentary as the search for one the major players from the golden era of hip hop. Along the way the journalist team encounters some of hip hop cultures favorite people such as Pete Rock, Statik Selektah, Buckwild, and others as they provide insight into Galt’s influence and possible whereabouts.
