Sometime after October, violent winds over Colorado’s Front Range blew the 15-year-old Myer-Womble Observatory’s dome to pieces.
Was a crazy year for weather in the west. One storm after another battered Alaska and the Pacific jetstream roared up into the Rockies.
When I first glanced at the headline I thought it meant a Gulfstream jet damaged the dome. Sorry Gulfstream.
We did have some pretty bad winds this year on the Front Range. More severe than in the last 25 years, if memory serves. Just goes to show you should over-design for wind.
