The Death of the Inventor of Heimlich Manoeuvre
Dr Henry Heimlich, the medic, who invented simple, yet highly-effective manoeuvre to save choking victims, has passed away at the age of 96.
The technique that saved thousands of lives since 1974, the year of its invention, involves easy-to-learn-and-master thrusts that normally are applied between the naval and lungs on the abdomen; a few of these thrusts clear the airways to restore the normal breathing.
Thanks to the unique technique, thousands of victims have been saved in restaurants, schools, playgrounds and even hospitals.
In short, Dr Heimlich, with the invention of this particular life-saving technique, managed to leave the indelible footprints in the sands of medical history.
