Finished reading “Beyond Beliefs: A Guide to Improving #Relationships and #Communication for #Vegans, #Vegetarians, and Meat Eaters” the #book by Melanie Joy, PhD.

This is not a book only for vegans, as it speaks about how our communications can help all our relationships. Melanie talks about how ideologies and #morals can be different, but these don’t have to bring about unmet needs. By being honest and upfront about your differences, and focusing on #compassion and non-judgement, relationships for vegan people with veg or non-veg do not need to be turmoil-filled.

Vegan allies are important - whether they are your friends or your partner. Knowing that your values are understood and accepted is a great start for any relationship. When one or both of you want the other to change is when problems arise.

#Carnism is mentioned a lot in this book, as it’s the term Melanie created to explain the oppressive, dominant conditioning society has to eat certain animals. Due to carnism being widespread, it’s hard when non-vegans do not see how their conditioning influences all their behaviours - especially those regarding their relationship and communication with you. Institutionalised systems’ beliefs and practices are promoted as facts rather than opinions, and accepted without question.

This book gives much information, along with examples, and worksheets to help with all of our communication and relationships. Check it out!#beyondcarnism #BeyondBeliefs

Thanks #GoGoQuinoa for sending me #Lentil & #Quinoa #Rotini, with two ingredients.

Here's a simple #vegan meal I made recently with broccolini, cherry tomatoes, a heap of chilli flakes, black pepper and nutritional yeast - yum!

Have you seen my video on my vivalavegandotnet #YouTube channel?

It's about how a friend asking "What Would You Be Doing if the World Was Already Vegan?" lead me to reassess my life and priorities when I was on #MyEuropeanAdventures last year.

Haven't shared a #chia #pudding pic for awhile, so here you go!

The base is chia seeds, brown rice #milk set aside for 30 mins, then combine in mixed #berries. I've also been adding either #oats or #activated #buckwheat lately too.

Serve with #cacao nibs, #pepitas, coconut flakes, #coconut #yoghurt, and banana - always yum!!
