We’re exhibiting at the RedBridge Transport Event 2017!

Vision Techniques are all set to attend this years’ popular RedBridge Transport event, this year focusing on “Meeting the Transport Challenges of 2017 and beyond”
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the London Borough of Redbridge will be holding their sixth annual compliance event on Wednesday 15th February 2017 at Ilford, East London, with the keynote speaker yet to be confirmed.

Each year, reversing is the cause of accidents and fatalities on Britain’s roads. In fact, figures produced by the Association of British Insurers suggest that approximately 17% of accidents involve reversing. Furthermore, HSE data indicates that 25% of deaths at work occur when a vehicle is reversing.

How do longer vehicles affect vehicle and cyclist safety?

Since 2012, there has been an on-going trial to assess the use, safety and viability of longer trailers. The pilot scheme, being monitored by the DfT, involves the use of HGV trailers that are 2.05m longer than the current standard. The benefits include the ability to transport a great volume of goods. However, there’s a concern that these longer vehicles will affect vehicle and cyclist safety.

With more than half of fatal accidents on motorways and busy roads involving HGVs, the need for improved safety standards and features has never been so high. Despite making up on 10% of the traffic on these types of roads, HGVs are still the biggest threat when it comes to accidents, injury and death on Britain’s roads.

With recent statistics in mind, Transport for London (TfL) have begun planning a wave of new standards and initiatives.
