Seriously +Google?! This server side switch slow roll out thing is bull. How many launches have you botched in the last few months in similar fashion?

You "launch" features to big fanfare, then users go looking for it and can't find it. They promptly forget about it because some other shiny thing comes along. Fast forward six months, and no one of using the thing, so you shut it down and move on, destroying customer confidence that you'll stick with ANYTHING. Now people are less likely to try the next shiny thing... Even if they get lucky on the server side switch. Rinse, repeat.

There's something systemic going on at Google right now, and as a fan I'm very worried.
Sweet. Location Sharing has moved to Maps. Taps button. Oh. Not enabled for my account yet. Stupid server side switches.

If Space X can pull this off, they're going to make NASA look pretty stupid. NASA's SLS system is tracking on a price tag of $18 BILLION, and is only getting to the Moon by 2018. Space X is going to MARS the same year.

It certainly should make people wonder if NASA's appropriations committee has been the best steward of all those Billions...
SpaceX plans to send a spacecraft to Mars as early as 2018 | The Verge

'SpaceX plans to send its Dragon spacecraft to Mars as early as 2018, the company announced today — marking a major first step toward CEO Elon Musk’s goal of sending humans to the Red Planet. The company didn’t say how many spacecraft it will send, but hinted it would conduct a series of these Dragon missions and that it would release more details soon. In a tweet, the company indicated that the capsules would fly on SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket, a bigger version of its Falcon 9; the rocket will launch the capsules to the planet to test out how to land heavy payloads on Mars. If successful, the endeavor would make SpaceX the first private spaceflight company to land a vehicle on another planet.'

I'm shamelessly sharing this, in the hope that you too will sign up, so that I can get free stuff.

The fact that this also happens to look like a very interesting product is entirely secondary.

Is anyone using Google Inbox on multiple devices?

I'm having issues with Reminders and Snoozed emails set to "home" triggering while I'm at work. Presumably because I have several tablets at home with my account on them.

It doesn't look like Inbox respects the Google Location History setting on the per-device level. Google Now seems to be fine with the reminders now, but I still get notified of reminders and snoozes in Inbox, on my phone in my hand at work.

Has anyone found a work-around for this?

It feels like Inbox needs a setting on the device level that allows reminders and snoozes to only trigger when the device is activated or unlocked, rather than in the background. There needs to be intent to those location reminders, because right now the "smarts" of the system are really broken in practice.

I've attached a link to the community forum thread I started in case anyone wants to weigh-in there.

Hey +Vivek Bhatia, how are those UniFi APs working out? Specifically, how are the handoffs? I've read interesting academic dissections of their zero-handoff technology, but all seem like shills for one company or another.

I'm really torn between UniFi and Xclaim right now (their 802.11AC models). If the handoffs are worth it, I'll pay the extra cash for the UniFi. But otherwise, I can save some significant cash going with Xclaim.

Thanks!

I love everything about this article. Well, the tone is a little harsh, but it underscores how frustrating it is to watch Google make so many horrible miscalculations.
Google Hangouts is social
I wish Google took other social stuff (like Instant Messaging) as seriously at it once took Google+. Other companies are investing billions here and Hangouts continues to be neglected.

Huh...maybe this is why Google has been letting Hangouts languish, and putting so much effort into Messenger.
