Wow, seedy underbelly. Pronounced Homer-Simpson-like.

EDIT: just read Bikini Kill's advice to all the young girls and liked it:
"Start a band, not a family."

There are two kinds of "expendable" groups in any given society: young males and elderly females. By that, I mean groups or individual members of society, who are less attached to the greater societal machinery, who because of biological or economical reasons don't participate in the reproductive or productive processes as much as other groups. Society as the whole views them as some kind of necessary burden, who's energy must be tapped or channeled somehow. There are many options for controlling and routing excess energy of younger males - compulsory military service, criminal structures, prison system, tertiary education and sports - but much less that for retired females. Maybe it's a good idea to introduce a compulsory service for able-bodied retiring females? A year spent in caretaking, gardening or smth like these positions with full board and little allowance isn't too much for a 65-years old woman. They could learn something or even make new friends in the process. After all, a lot of males are already dead by that age, so it's only natural for females to look out of their little box and try something new. There should also be the option to avoid or postpone your service, if you have managed to keep your husband alive by that time. This encourages healthy lifestyle for both partners.
And it's much fairer share of social obligations between males and females, when both sexes have to do a compulsory service at some time in life.

Douglas Adams described somewhere in Hitchhiker's Guide a case, where a trivial sentence said in everyday conversation in one remote Galaxy traveled through wormhole in Time-Space Continuum to another distant part of Universe and caused a thousand-year intergalactic war, because it sounded like the ultimate insult in this place. Such things happen in real life, too. Social scientists tend to be lazy and opportunistic and when possible, incorporate bits of trivia into their descriptions of certain social fenomena. These trivial explanations then may start living their own life. The oneliner "Accept people as they are, acne and everything" some kid says in "Woodstock. The Movie" is a classic example. It made into every sociologists text about the sixties and even into Soviet apparatchiks speeches, trying to explain the things happening in West.

What do you think, when movie called" "Life on Earth" ends, will they show everyone's full names in final credits?
It must take a while. Interesting, do I get "Special thanks to", or just a passing line "No creatures were harmed" (that's bloody lie!).

There's no problem for people to understand the asshole-luring qualities of party politics: the basic laws of energy say that those unable to fit in try to get to lead others. But most of the public don't acknowledge that other forms of entertainment fall under the same rule too. TV, organized religion and professional sports are also examples of activities affected by influx of narcissistic personalities borderlining complete assholery. If your application to run away with circus got dumped, then there are still other forms of freak show you could join.

I'm not sure, if this is sincere balls-and-boobs sleaze rock or are they just having fun. Sounds authentically redneckish or ossich, but album cover design is too tongue-in-cheek for that.

Oddly, I thought the band was called Hell's Heaven for years. Thank you, bloody finnish Radio Mafia.

"...I think I'm an anarchist", the kid told me other day. "That's interesting, what kind of a theory have You turned to, syndicalism or libertarianism?"

"???"

That made me think about the possibility of sustainable social system without a supporting theory or guiding vision. I wonder, if it felt the same for scholars at the end of 19-th century, when atheism really got into masses and their scion told them that that they just don't believe in God anymore, without particulation, is it agnostic or otherwise. How comes we are now accepting such generalization in spiritual matters, but demand specific details of much more mundane affairs of public administration?
