How many hours are you sitting down every day? You may be surprised to find that 14 hours a day is the average for Brits! No wonder some of us have trouble with our back, shoulders, neck or wrists.

Our blog today shows some simple exercises that you can do even while sitting at your desk & which can help minimise damage caused by sitting. Why not give it a go? Go on, you don't even need to stand up...

Health insurance is far from a one size fits all, so much more. If you do have health insurance, there are many questions that you need the answer to, preferably before you sign on the dotted line. What's covered, who can treat you, how long can they treat you for, do you have to contribute? Phew...and that's just for starters! Today we give a thorough, but probably not exhaustive (as mentioned, LOTS of questions) look at health insurance. You may be surprised at all the things you need to know, every policy has different rules about cover, we know, we hear them all here at Victory!

This week we're giving a big Victory welcome to our new yoga teacher & yoga therapist Iris. From having yoga suggested by her physio after an injury, Iris fell in love with it so much that she retrained & qualified over 5 years ago with the prestigious British Wheel of Yoga. Iris trained in many different styles so can vary her approach depending on your needs. Iris uses yoga therapy to help not only those with neck, back & shoulder injuries, but cancer sufferers, & those with conditions including Parkinson's & multiple sclerosis. Check out our blog to find times for semi-private, buddy, or private session times, who knows, you may fall in love with yoga too!

It's been a month since Nell's last blog post on chronic infmammation, so time for the latest installment. By now we know that the right nutrients can form the building blocks of a healthy, high performing or quick recovering body. This week, she looks at Protein, which is for growth & repair of muscle tissue. Nell goes into some depth about amino acids, which make up different types of protein. Very informative, who knew there are so many aminos?

Time & time again people have told me how much they appreciate the way Nell takes the time to explain not only how to do their physiotherapy exercises, but exactly why & what can be acheived. Her blog this week is all about the clamshell exercise, Often used as an exercise to strengthen the glutes, take a read to find out why it's not as straight-forward as that for anyone with a dysfunctional hip, knee or pelvis. Nell tells us why she recommends the clamshell, along with a clear 'how-to' guide to make sure it's done properly to make sure of the best outcome.

Here at Victory, we are all very glad indeed that our newest star physio Lauren returned to work just five weeks after a reversing car knocked her off her bike as she headed home from work, resulting in a broken arm needing surgey and a torn ligament amongst other injusries. How did she manage to recover so quickly I hear you cry? Here Lauren tells us how, & it may come as a surprise to know that this speedy recovery is not exclusive to physio's, there are many things that will help us all if we find ourselves (and I hope we don't!) in a similar situation....
