This is where we drive 5 hours to buy something we haven't actually seen in person.

But a few hours later after going over it with the grinder to strip the paint, and a few coats of glossy paint, it might be the best $10 I ever spent.

Hard-hitting questions include:
Kim: What is your favorite paint color?
Victoria: It doesn’t matter… eventually all of my wall space will be covered with giant, fancy, salvaged things.

The bed-shopping experience has been derailed by my ever-escalating symptoms of GFTD: giant-fancy-thing-disease…
My craigslist-addiction reached critical mass when I fell in love with this giant, fancy Victorian bed. Only one small problem: like most antique beds, it was only full-size.

While I was looking at Joe's photos of the bathroom before-remodel, I wondered what you all would do? Any suggestions for him? Personally, I REALLY LOVE vintage bathrooms. And I am hugely jealous of the jadeite-green sink/tub/toilet combination. But that brown wall tile? Gah.
Here is Joe's original e-mail. He does not say specifically how much gutting he wants to do, but I interpreted that he wants to keep renovation costs down.
I own a home from 1956 and it looks like it was the last time this bathroom was touched. I love the house with the exception of the this bathroom. I need help. I do not have a ton of money but I am a pretty capable person. I have attached some pictures of the disaster of a bathroom. It is brown and mint green (toilet, tub, sink) and I need an idea of what I can do with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated?

My husband and I are restoring a crumbling Victorian home, outside of Philadelphia. We’re renovating it ourselves, room-by-room… It’s an entirely-DIY undertaking that is both wonderful and overwhelming…
I write about the experience of living in a construction-site, DIY house-renovation, frustration, design, indecision, and how hard it can be on a marriage.
