Go is horrible, at least in the (somewhat popular) codebases that I looked at. I get some people don't like exceptions (often unreasonably), but error handling in Go is a unmaintanable mess. And this is only one of many problems with the language.

Rust looks like a well-designed language. They also shun exceptions but at least do it in a more reasonable way. I don't have much practical experience with this language though.

In case you were wondering.
Work began on the Hurd, the true kernel of the GNU operating system, in May 1991, but it has yet to materialise as a production-ready kernel. Richard Hillesley tells the story...

It isn't so much about scope as culture and style (grand design with philosophical purity vs quick tool to get the job done with manageable faults)

Both sides are wrong in one way or another, whether it is the pressure of ideology or the government. And that's why this cartoon is so perfect.

Recursion. The beginning.

what the...??
A Turkish family poisoned themselves and more than 20 guests at a dinner party they threw to celebrate recovering from food poisoning. Wife and mother Asiye Erdal served an animal the family had sacrificed to show gratitude to God for helping them recover from the earlier illness, but ended up hospitalising everyone present. Four people remain in intensive care in the northern Turkish province of Tekirdag, Anadolu news agency reports.

And this time Sarah knows what she is saying, because she is a massive disappointment (in humanity) herself.
Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin warns Republican Donald Trump of "massive disappointment" if he backs down on his plan to deport undocumented immigrants.

"Forget my injuries (cracked cheek, torn ligaments) - I'm having to drink tea out of a straw!" Branson is the best =). I'm glad that he is alive.
Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson says he thought he was "going to die" after crashing his bike on the Caribbean island of Virgin Gorda.

What can possibly go wrong?

If I were a government that wanted to secure greater totalitarian control over my population, in today's social climate... How would I do it?

Oh, yes. I would allow a flood of ''refugees'' into my country, without proper regulations... betting on the chance that a high enough percentage are violent terrorist types.

Then, in the ensuing panic of my population, due to the massive uptick in violent terrorist activities (which I was betting on)... I will use "safety" as my cover for enacting new fascist laws, completely omnipresent monitoring of citizens, and military force on my own streets.

Because we all know that a scared population will do ANYTHING, if you guarantee them: safety and prosperity.

That's how Hitler was elected into power. That's how Mao Ze Deng took over. Etc... It's the easiest "in" for Totalitarianism.

**

Americans... keep your eyes peeled. Because the same thing will happen, after the elections.

1. Huge influx of 'refugees', more than just a few of them violent.

2. Massive increase in crime, and terrorist actions.

3. Government wants to tighten its grip on citizens, in the name of "safety".

Is it too obvious? Seriously though, I appreciate shares and good discussion regardless of where it happens.
