#googleplusupdate   "Using our massive data centers, we will plumb the emotional depths of everyone in the photo, then summarize their feelings with a beautifully crafted, emotion icon."

Your photos +Emotion

Google+ Photos is all about sharing your experiences and emotions with the people you care about. We’re constantly looking for ways to help you create richer, more expressive photographs.

Many months of research on how people communicate on the Internet have convinced us that when it comes to expressing yourself, nothing beats the richness and elegance of a few properly placed colons, parentheses, letters and hyphens.

:-)  :P :O :/

These representations of your innermost emotions are simple, and best of all, unambiguous :P

So starting today, we will give you the option to add stylized emotions to your photos. To give it a try, simply open one of your pictures in the lightbox, and click the “Add emotion” button at the top left of the screen.

We will plumb the emotional depths of everyone in the photo, then summarize their feelings with a beautifully crafted, emotion icon. Click on the button again to return to the original version of your photo. We hope you enjoy using the feature and we look forward to seeing your emotionally-charged posts ;)

I have been waiting for this feature -- finally got to it, it looks like. Thanks so much, can't see how photos evolve from here!
Ahahaha, happy April Vic ;)
I just tried this on one of my own photos, and it works brilliantly.
I actually think this is a fun feature, and I hope it's not just for April Fools. ;)
About time this got added!!!!!!!!!!

It works well although probably only implemented as a joke.
hahaha this actually works! i thought it was just a 1st april joke xD it even recognized my cat in my profile picture :D great +Google+
Must be after midnight somewhere ...
Are you trollling or that's really a new feature?
+Vic Gundotra I'm so impressed and to think you were able to do all this with only months of research.  Wish there was an optional layer that showed the parentheses or colons directly. Perhaps this can be part of one of the iterative updates that are sure to follow this popular update.
Try using a picture with a dog or cat :-)
No birds +Vic Gundotra ? :)
This is fabulous, btw. And way too smart! You know what we are thinking now!
Don't know what kind of Googly magic this is but I like it. I wear glasses and it put a emoticon with glasses next to a picture of me.
A few hours early for April 1st, aren't you?
Nice job with the glasses/beard/animal detection. Must have taken a lot of research effort!
love it! can't wait for this to come to the +Android app... in fact, I wish we had these styled emojis in Android period.
+Vic Gundotra if the algorithm could detect Grumpy Cat and display a special emoticon just for him, that would be the icing on the cake !
+Vic Gundotra whether it's one of your usual posts, or something a bit more festive, your posts are by far the best in my feed. Anywho, happy April :)
Very cool update. I'm still waiting for Red Eye removal though! :) Would really LOVE it if you guys could add it +Vic Gundotra
I can already imagine +Google Maps  and time of day integration for more Big Data. When and where your happy and who your are with and what you are doing.
+Vic Gundotra  Happy April fools day. But you guys already do this internally, to train that brain that recognized cats.
+Vic Gundotra I'm not going to believe anything posted by you or anyone else from +Google for the next 24 hours. Nothing personal. :-)
Just tried this out and laughed my ass off when it was real.  This is awesome.  I haven't tried one yet with my dog, but it certainly seems to detect happy people!   I'll have to try a self-portrait looking miserable to see how well it deals with that.  Overall,  this is great.  Thanks Google!
this is awesome though. please make this a permanent feature :)
Awesome. Please make it a permanent feature. :D
Have you applied this feature to the likeness of Cesar Chavez on Sunday's search page doodle?
Totally thought this was an April fool's joke..  LOL  But, it works!  Nicely done guys!  Nicely done!  :D
I would rather this had been an April fools joke.
Best update ever! Love those little baked eggs.
I hope this one will stay after April 1st... it's quite a cool feature.
