Although the U.S. would not send its first doughboys to Europe until three years later, today is the day that WWI began in 1914. The ramifications of “The Great War” would reshape the world and eventually lead to WWII.

The image below features the oft-overlooked District of Columbia War Memorial, honoring Washington, DC citizens who served in World War I.

On this day in 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was enacted, ending many forms of discrimination against those who are disabled. Today disabled Veterans show us all the time that they are just as able, if not more so, to perform amazing feats.

Learn how they’re doing it, and how you can be part of #VASummerofService here: http://www.va.gov/ADAPTIVESPORTS/

Jessie Truitt had finally landed her dream job. She was 23 and working as an Army recruiter in DuBois, Pa., right in her hometown area. Diligent, conscientious and hard-working, she was named Top Reserve Recruiter for the Pittsburgh Recruiting Battalion in 2005. In May of that year she and her husband celebrated when they learned she was pregnant. Three months later, in August, she was raped by her station commander. “I had to see that man every ...

Today is a great day in history. In 1948 , Executive Order 9981 was signed by President Harry S. Truman, abolishing segregation in the U.S. armed forces. Since then, all have served side-by-side regardless of race, proving that it doesn’t matter the color of your skin, but the content of your character.

July is National Park and Recreation Month! Camping and other recreational activities can be very fun and calorie burning too! Don’t let all those calories burned go to waste by overeating at the campfire! One s’more has about 150 calories! If you’re interested in learning about low calorie choices and how to stay within your calorie budget, contact your PCP and ask to meet with your PACT Registered Dietitian.
