The Burn Pit Registry isn't just a listing it provides Veterans long term follow up for any conditions they have or could emerge down the road. It allows VA to identify conditions for all Veterans more quickly to make sure that Veterans get the health care that they need in a timely manner. #BurnPitRegistry
If you have experienced respiratory symptoms or health conditions that may be related to exposure to burn pits while deployed, you should register in the Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry.

we want you to get the care you need in a timely manner. Have you spoken with your patient advocate about the issue? They can work with you. You can find their contact information here: http://www.baypines.va.gov/BAYPINES/patients/customerservice.asp

PTSD does not need to define your life and it shouldn’t define Veterans in the eyes of the public. Raising awareness of what PTSD truly is and the support that is available is so important this National PTSD Day. http://www.ptsd.va.gov/

Tomi Ailene Morris (Thomas A. Morris, Jr.) enlisted in the Air Force in 1970 and served in Vietnam at Ton Son Nhut Air Force Base in 1973. After medical retirement from the Air Force, Tomi underwent PTSD treatment. After remembering childhood feelings, leading to a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, Tomi now lives happily as a woman.

“I was taught to never ask for help.”
Perhaps the most striking reason in putting off getting help has to do with the paradox the military faces “between the mentality of having the ‘right stuff’ and seeking help for problems related to reactions to combat,” including posttraumatic stress.

North Korea invaded South Korea on this date in 1950, triggering the beginning of the Korean War. Often referred to as the forgotten war thanks to its proximity to WWII, today we remember those that fought for our country and let them know that they will never be forgotten.

“You’ve got all these injury-hardened Veterans sitting in their wheelchairs, but then someone puts a fragile little butterfly in their hands and you can see these guys soften right up. They start grinning from ear to ear, like they were playing softball with their granddaughter or something.” http://1.usa.gov/28Lrbtm
In early May about 30 patients and staff gathered on the front patio of the Milwaukee Veteran Affairs Spinal Cord Injury building to witness a special ceremony: the release of hundreds of butterflies.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads serving now, all the dads who served before, and all the dads whose children serve. Your commitment and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.
