It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Arales our female #MongooseLemur who passed away this morning aged 28 just a few months ahead of her 29th birthday. She was one of the oldest Mongoose Lemurs in captivity.
Arales was born in 1988 at +Duke Lemur Center Center which is the largest sanctuary for prosimians in the World, located at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA.
In 1991 she was relocated to the UK where she lived at various zoological collections including +Exmoor Zoo and #BlackbrookZoologicalPark. In 2010 Arales and her partner Goné arrived at +Ventura Wildlife and have lived her ever since. Our team built a purpose built enclosure for them at our Enfield site with thanks to fundraising efforts by Ventura Wildlife and a grant from #FriendsofParadiseWidlifePark.
She will be sadly missed by all of our team.

We celebrated #WorldAnimalDay yesterday with a visit to our friends at the #VillageSchool in #Belsize Park, #London. Over 5 years we have worked with this fantastic little school teaching students about animals found in tropical forests, deserts and Africa. It was a great way to spread the word about World Animal Day with real life learning.
