I've just released a new version of VSerializer, a memory efficient serialization library.
The new version supports enums (totally forgot about them on the first version lol).

https://github.com/vaslabs/VSerializer

Started to get a bit stable now, also supports serialization of circular data structures.

Let me know if you find any issues so I can improve it. Feel free to contribute.

New version of the pi-web-agent is now released. Getting closer and closer to a desktop replacement :)

This is a web-app agent for the raspberry pi. It allows you to interact easily with your Pi via your browser.

Hello everyone. pi-web-agent has been published in the pistore. A web application to help you control your pi. Supporting Raspbian so far, but if there is interest we're gonna migrate to other distributions too. I would appreciate any feedback

Thank you VERY much once again Vasilis for your really excellent support. Even we didn´t do a cause research, I think it could be the PI Store. The problem was the user "pi-web-agent" wasn´t created and therefore the Apache didn´t start. I downloaded and installed pi-web-agent now directly from Github (0.3zip) and it worked.

Tools and Libraries  -

Hello all,

Over the last couple of days (and while enjoying my time off from work :D) I've been working on an experimental library to reduce the memory usage (mainly targeting android) when serializing objects. That can be either as an alternative to json or the default serialization mechanism from java (e.g. if your caching mechanism requires serialization). It has very specific use cases I think but it can save a lot of memory - hopefully.
Of course it's in an early stage, so please follow the test cases if you want to experiment with it. You can find it here:
https://github.com/vaslabs/VSerializer

Any suggestions or contributions are definitely welcome.

Open Source Apps  -

Hi all.
During Christmas holidays, I took my grandparents for holidays in Italy. Not wanting to lose them I did what every software engineer that respect their-selves would do :D Created an app to track them down via sms.

Here is the source code:
https://github.com/vaslabs/trackpa
https://github.com/vaslabs/trackpa_receiver
(guidelines http://blog.vaslabs.org/2016/01/trackpa-never-lose-your-grandparents.html)
It can also use asymmetric encryption for the sms, just for fun :D

What do you think?

Cheers

Suggestions/Ideas  -

Hello,
I'm looking for buying a new laptop. I want to be sure that it can run fedora well (currently I have a 5 year old vaio that works pretty well with Fedora). It will be the only OS on the laptop. I use it for mainly development work (android studio, various web frameworks, eclipse). Could you suggest any models based on what you use?
Cheers

I'm using a Precision M4500, and have heard success with the M4700.  I avoid hybrid graphics like the plague personally, so I can't speak for any models that have them.

Below average overpriced burgers, terrible service. With the format of the restaurant the food should be cheaper than macdonalds

I just left from there very disappointed and with a broken heart that will never heal. My favourite hickory rib was not available as they changed the menu. My dreams are crashed and I'm very angry. Bring back the hickory. I would also like to add that the waiter's attitude was bad. Maybe it's his style but he makes you feel like it's your fault there are no tables or the menu item you want is not available. Also he is a bit arrogant. I don't know, is this a posh restaurant? Relax buddy... The only reason i was going was their excellent food for meat choices. Now that they changed their menu there is literally no logical reason why someone would go there for food

Everything was brilliant. From where to begin... They bring you a bottle of water and some pop corn the moment you sit down. Although it was very crowded the waiter made me feel special with his attitude. The food was also excellent. Totally recommend it
