When I was 6 years old, I passed an old woman on a bridge in Hong Kong. I stopped and just looked at her as she held out her weathered hand, asking for some change. I was stunned, confused to why this old women in a worn purple blouse was on the bridge asking me, a little girl, for money. It was the first time I started to notice the differences around me, and how I had so much opportunity just by coincidence - just by the chance of who I was and where I was born. From that point forward, I have always sought to give back to those around me, hoping to eventually make an impact in the world.
My last year in college, after shattering my arm for the 4th time (2nd time snowboarding), I was able to finish my final credits by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Being a research-hound and dedicated worker-bee, I started writing and winning grant proposals for HfH. I loved taking care of the technical aspects of running a non-profit allowing the Executive Director to provide direct services.
I was able to fulfill this role for several non-profit organizations for a couple years before leaving to Chile for my Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. I set up Service Learning Programs for 2 universities, one in Chile and the other in (my beloved) Argentina. Returning to the States, now married, I accepted a position with Operation Healthy Communities, a local non-profit part of a global initiative.
I loved what I did and who I worked with - however after a year, I had to leave OHC to help a family business - a dude ranch. Wow, that was different - I am scared of horses and before meeting my husband, I did not even know what a dude ranch was except for the poor portrayal on the old Nickelodeon show.
Anyways, it was quite the learning curve and I had a virtual and literal IT & marketing meltdown (yes, with smoking computers and everything). This also marked the beginning of my trial-by-fire education and love for internet marketing and how it can really help small businesses.
Fast-forward a couple years - I am constantly research, testing, and teaching best practices in internet marketing - specifically inbound marketing.
I am a Certified HubSpot Partner, Inbound Marketing Professional & Educator. In addition to helping out the family-run dude ranch, I have helped small businesses and real estate professionals all over the U.S. manage & market their businesses more effectively and efficiently.
I have not forgotten the woman on the bridge, and now as a mama of two amazing kiddos, I always think about how my work can be more meaningful. I know I have created opportunity for the clients I have been privileged to help over the last several years (and will continue to help), but I am a seeking something more, something more from me.
Here is where I will start this new journey...
