I planned a date night with my husband at the Valley River Inn. I won't do it again. The staff were excellent, the restaurant was perfect but the room experience and the front desk response to our room experience causes me to never go back again. First, our door to the patio would not lock and was difficult to open. No big deal, we put the door back on its track and continued to enjoy our evening. The next morning, we ordered room service - they failed to bring the entire order. Then we discovered no hot water and spots all over the mirrors. This caused us to look more and we found spider webs. As we checked out, we notified the front desk. No apology, no concern expressed regarding our stay, nothing. I will not recommend anyone to stay here - not for business or for a visit. Not worth the price or the view.

One needs a reminder every now and then. Hadn't stayed in V.R.I. in years but did so last Saturday night and had dinner, drinks and a great time. I was most pleased by service at the front desk, with one J.Carlos checking us in for a relaxing evening. As long as they, V.R.I., puts J.Carlos out front and center, your stay will be most pleasurable. We will return soon. F.&F.

The staff was nice but the hotel was overpriced and outdated. When my wife and I went to take a shower in the morning there was no hot water at all. We were going to go back for New Years Eve but I think we will make other plans.

Nice newly remodeled spacious rooms. Hotel staff was accommodating. River walk was highly accessible and they had a nice sauna/ hot tub room. Close to a mall and was overall a very nice experience.

2015.05.09: This place is OK. It's overpriced for what it is. The rooms are nice and clean (we stayed in a pet-friendly suite), but this place isn't terribly special. It's right next to strip-malls and a shopping mall. Not really in nature at all. It is close to the river, and there's a nice trail that runs along the river, but it's not easy to get in the river to swim. You can see a nice park on the other side of the river, but it's not easy to cross over the river by foot (there's a bridge close-by, but it doesn't have a sidewalk).

I can not complain about this place, it was adequate, but I feel it was well over priced for what we got. I did check the reviews before staying here and thought they were slightly petty, but after shelling out my bill and staying a night, I now understand where many of these people are coming from. If I would have stayed at a comparable place for considerably less, I would have gotten a fridge, a nuker, a shower with post 50's hardware, water pressure, a balcony that may have a slight bit of privacy, a bed that was not from the 50's, and better managed employees. I ended up with a back ache and many angry and over worked employees that clearly were not happy to be working for the holidays....understandable to a degree. I can not wait until google ratings adds a "Meh." I feel it would be the perfect rating for this place.

As usual for the internet, the ones to write a review are the ones who had problems or looking for problems. I have to disagree with the complaints. everything is in walking distance. If you cant walk the length of the parking lot dont leave your nursing home. You are too close to death. If your just fat, dont leave your scooter at home. Place is spectacular and super fun to stay at imho.
