Important topic, but I'm surprised John doesn't mention making it hard/impossible to file bogus patents as part of a potential solution.

Had this been a bit closer to Kremlin, they would be pretending a prison cell is a hotel room.

Yesterday I registered a new domain for myself, schuman.me. Then I saw that Bill Gates owns the b-gat.es domain, which got me thinking that it would be really cool if I could get schum.an. But it turns out .an domains aren't being sold publicly. Maybe schu.man then? Some company applied to purchase the .man TLD, but that hasn't gone through yet, and when it does, the company doesn't intend to sell domains under that either. How about ... sc.human? Well, a .human TLD isn't even in the plans. And I think it costs about 100K to purchase a TLD. Anyone wanna splurge? :)

Called them at noon about repairing a tire. They asked when I wanted to come in, I said at 1pm, and they said they would be ready to take it in. I came at exactly 1, together with my 2.5 year old son, thinking it wouldn't be too long and that we could just explore the neighborhood meanwhile. They took the car and said they'll get it in as soon as possible. We went to walk around, came back at 2:15, the car was still parked at the same spot I left it in. So we waited, with my son demanding entertainment and attempting to demolish the water cooler, until finally falling sleep on my arms a little before 3pm. At 3:15 I come up to ask if they've started on the car; they haven't. So we just took the keys back and went home. All this time, the few people who were there before us (it wasn't a lot of people), were waiting too and complaining to one another how long it's taking and how it would have been nice if they were told that it would take this long. Really, if you're packed, or you don't have a lot of guys working, or you're just slow - let your customers know, we'll appreciate it more than if you don't tell us anything and keep us stranded the whole day.

We came in looking to get a quick bite before heading to the mountain. The atmosphere is cozy, the waiters seem nice, and the food we got was pretty good. The biggest negative of the place is the time it takes to get anything. My wife and I figured we'd get a burger and split it among us, but the time it took the waitress to come get our order made us question how long serving a burger would take, so we asked her. She truthfully told us that a burger would take a long time. So instead we ordered two bagels with cream cheese and a miso soup. The miso soup, while good, was the strangest I've ever seen. It had cabbage and onions and sour cream and other stuff in it. I'd never have imagined that it had miso as its base. Either way, the soup and the bagels took like half an hour to bring us. A few times we even considered paying for our coffees and leaving. The bagels had an unexpected small side of potatoes and veggies, but that couldn't have taken long to make. It didn't seem like the waiters were slacking off, so I'd say their kitchen is probably just understaffed. The prices are also just a bit high. So if you've got time, you're not too hungry, and you like a nice place to relax in with friends, it may be a good choice. But if sitting around isn't your goal, steer clear.

Got takeout here for three people. The food was very good. Will definitely get food from here again, maybe will try to eat in - inside the place looks pretty cozy. The only minor thing that wasn't very good were the cups the drinks were in. For takeout, the cups weren't very spill-proof. But otherwise, everything was excellent.

Just went for lunch here. The food is very good, the atmosphere pleasant, and the prices are moderate. I'm a little biased because I generally like Turkish food, but this seems to be one of the better restaurants. One negative is that it's a little slow.

The bagels here taste pretty good, but they're the smaller side, the place is dirtyish, and a cup of tea that costs no more than 20 cents to make is a $1.95 here. They also only take cash. It's not a bad place, but nothing special.

Went in with a phone I was transferring from Verizon to T-Mobile and had a few questions about it. The two guys in there seemed clueless. They couldn't even figure out whether the phone had an internet connection and were convinced that it was because one page in the browser was partially cached.
