I was just flipping through the NYT yesterday and came across this article. It exposes the true attitudes Iranian authorities have towards Bahais. It also shows that just being the daughter of a former president doesn't mean you will tow the official line.

"The blended learning models that are and will be possible with gigabit technology are changing education- maybe as much or more than the printing press." Who would say such a thing?

Art i can connect with.

As far as I can work out, the artist for this is Alexander Milov. He says  "It demonstrates a conflict between a man and a woman as well as the outer and inner expression of human nature. Their inner selves are executed in the form of transparent children, who are holding out their hands through the grating. As it’s getting dark (night falls) the children start to shine. This shining is a symbol of purity and sincerity that brings people together and gives a chance of making up when the dark time arrives.”

While being lucky enough to find the right people to work with face to face is great, (virtual/online) networks already (and increasingly) are a highly valuable resource for learning (let alone getting jobs).

PCWorld: These graduate students had no idea their teaching assistant was a robot. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwu42uxyo

Not that a bot can (yet) replace effective human communication, but a well informed bot ought to be very useful to answer questions such as "in which library can I find this book?".

I was very satisfied by the chicken shawarma, the coldest I've seen to the ones I've eaten in the Holy Land. They're big and they justify their rather high price. I'll go again as soon as I can.

Great place to visit. For just 4$ you get a guided tour with nice examples of the different cultures of Ecuador and some nice effects of the Equator line. Definitely worth a visit if you've made it to Quito!

Nice, big subterranean mall. Currently being renovated, but the underground businesses are working normally. It also harbors what i believe is the biggest Métro hookup of lines. Keep your eyes peeled for indications when your are trying to find your way in the underground.

When you enter the first floor, you think: "This is ok, but maybe not worth 10€?" But then you take the (very tight) stairs to the second floor and you feel amazed. This is history+art+architecture at it finest.
