Say, you deploy Nitrux, which our focus is to use Appimages, but there's no AppImage for X software that you want? No problem, deploy another distribution with znx or let the developer known that you wish to have an AppImage, AppImage devs will gladly assist the software developer.

Need to use Windows? No problem, use Nitrux and run Windows with full hardware acceleration.

I guess we're not just another Ubuntu #amirite.
Here is a feature coming to Nitrux in the future. We're calling this VMetal for the time being, and it utilizes QEMU and KVM (hence the VM) with the intention of letting the user run Windows in parallel to Nitrux with the aim to provide users of access to Windows software meanwhile they can still use their Linux desktop at the same time.

With znx, we provide users of a way to boot multiple Linux distributions by deploying them on one go. Since Windows is not Linux, this makes it incompatible with znx. However, we want to provide the user of a way to bridge this gap where some software is still not available in Linux natively.

In the video, we have Windows 10 build 1809 running at full-speed the Unigine Superposition DX12 benchmark on a Ryzen 7 2700X and a GTX 1080. The performance when compared to a bare-metal Windows installation is pretty similar, allowing for full-hardware acceleration of 3D software, without the need for any compatibility layer.

This feature is still a WIP, but we would like to add it as a preview in Nitrux 2.0.

Today is the day! — Nitrux 1.1.3 is available to download

We are pleased to announce the launch of Nitrux 1.1.3. This new version brings together the latest software updates, bug fixes, performance improvements, and ready-to-use hardware support.

Nitrux 1.1.3 is available for immediate download. To update please check the Compendium for instructions.

What's new

- The fourth release of Nitrux 1.1.x series.
- Update Linux kernel to mainline version 4.20.4.
- Updated Plasma 5 (5.14.90), KDE Apps (18.12.1).
- Updated NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, NVIDIA driver support binaries, NVIDIA kernel source, NVIDIA DKMS, NVIDIA OpenGL-based Inband Frame Readback runtime library, NVIDIA OpenGL/GLX/EGL/GLES GLVND libraries and Vulkan ICD, NVIDIA OpenGL-based Framebuffer Capture runtime library, NVENC Video Encoding runtime library, NVIDIA Video Decoding runtime libraries, NVIDIA libcompute, NVIDIA binary OpenGL/GLX configuration library to 415.27.
- Added Spanish and Portuguese translations to the operating system.

Known issues

- Included VLC AppImage does not include an icon.

Notes

- Our ISO is a standard ISO-9660 bootable image. However, our ISO dramatically differs from other conventional Linux ISO files in that ours is not a hybrid-ISO image and this means that the ONLY way to use Nitrux is deploying the ISO image using znx. We DO NOT recommend that you flash the ISO raw to a storage device AT ALL, please use znx.

- We only support booting from EFI and UEFI motherboards and not from the CSM or Compatibility Support Module or Legacy BIOS motherboards because of this, meaning that if you have enabled CSM in your UEFI to boot other systems, it must be disabled to boot Nitrux. Most Linux distributions already support UEFI boot.

- Nitrux, by default, uses OpenGL (3.1) acceleration as the rendering backend, this is to provide users of a great experience when they are running the distribution on their computers. We do recommend that in this case, testers use XRender instead. We also suggest that users don't attempt to install the guest additions from the VirtualBox Guest ISO or install the package using APT and this is because the Linux kernel since version 4.16 does already include the video driver and related modules.

The new Gnome icon theme looks pretty nice. It reminds me of the work we did with +Ozon with +Numix Project Team in how the bottom part of the icon is raised.
Looks like the GNOME 3.32 desktop environment will also feature a more modern icon style besides the slightly revamped default theme!

Updating AppImages is just as easy as adding them. We added AppImageUpdate which just like znx does with the operating system, updates the AppImage files using delta updates only updating the bits that changed, and all of this is just one-click away!.
