You can have a mediocre workout or the ULTIMATE workout.
- A 100kg bodybuilder with 8% body fat that trains with high volume five sessions per week, will benefit from a higher carb consumption than an 85kg lifter with 12% body fat that trains with moderate volume three sessions per week.
-The bigger, leaner lifter might eat 400-plus grammes of carbs, moderate protein, and low fat the day before a high volume session.
- The other lifter would almost assuredly gain fat with that approach. A more moderate carb intake is appropriate.

Very easy to sum up my experience at UP Manchester - excellent. Having signed up to both Group Training and Personal Training courses over the last 12 months, I cannot recommend them highly enough. The knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm of all the trainers is unrivalled and they continually push you to achieve your goals. The environment that has been created is truly inspiring and their sole focus is for clients to succeed. They push you hard in the gym (be prepared!) and they are always on hand to provide advice and answer any questions (even when I am not due in the gym). The knowledge that I have acquired with them in terms of training techniques and, crucially, nutrition, is quite simply life changing. If anyone is serious about achieving their gym related goals, the only place I would recommend is UP.

I'm just coming to the end of my 8 week training program @ UP and I've loved every minute of it. I've recently turned 38 & have kept myself in good condition but I'm now in the best condition of my life with single digit body fat. Richard's knowledge and intelligent programming has not only generated the results I was craving but given me a new drive and determination to kick on. The gym has a really good atmosphere. No egos! All the trainers take an interest in your progress too so you feel like you have a team of PTs on your side. I can highly recommend Steve's Strongman class on a Saturday morning for an extra blast. If you're a dedicated person who genuinely wants to transform their body then this is the place to go. It's bloody hard work but well worth it.

These guys are fantastic. My experience was beyond excellent. They will push you hard to achieve amazing results. The atmosphere of the facility is nothing like your regular gym. You feel welcomed from the moment you step foot in the front door and become a part of the family throughout your training process. You are not just another number contributing financially to the business, you are in integral part of the fabric that makes this place what it is. The trainers are extremely dedicated and serious about helping you to achieve your result. I am in the best shape that I have ever been in my life and achieved new personal bests over the 7 weeks I was in Manchester. The education that you will receive about proper technique, exercise tempo and nutrition is second to none. My time at UP was worth every penny as I am able to now take what I have learned and put it into action in my own workouts. I would highly recommend Ultimate Performance to anyone who is serious about their results.

Fantastic gym with fantastic trainers, the photographer is OK too! :-) I've attended the Legs Hypertrophy day and the Arms day too, both are brilliant days and fun, but don't be fooled by the friendly smiling trainers as they are silent assassins ;-) that push beyond your limits again and again, all whilst using the best kit in the world; that stuff just glides as you push and pull! I'm already looking forward to next years plans to see what they have in store for us. Would definitely recommend any UP training, whether it be 1-2-1 coaching, small group training or the hypertrophy days

I'm now 8 weeks in and UP is without doubt the best gym I've ever been to. The trainers are all experienced and knowledgeable and definitely the best in the business. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The attention to detail on getting exactly the right technique is phenomenal and makes all the difference to body shape and physique. A huge thanks to Richard for pushing me every single session. I would have no hesitation in recommending UP to anyone - just be prepared to put the effort in.

This is no ordinary personal training this is UP personal training!! If you want dramatic results and the associated compliments and feel good factor that go with a complete body and lifestyle overhaul then this is the gym for you! The team is super professional, knowledgeable, really friendly, approachable and I don't think they possess an arrogant bone between them! I've felt comfortable coming here from day 1 even when my body confidence was at an all time low. I can wholeheartedly say that these guys have changed not only my body and my fitness but my perception of a healthy diet, my understanding of nutrition (my trainer Steve is THE font of all food based knowledge!) exercise (they have me lifting some big a** weights- something I would have never thought I could do!😊) they have changed my life - I've got me back! Yeah a bit gushy I know but it's the truth and my friends and family would agree. You have to work for it mind and you only get out what you put in - these guys have the knowledge, the passion, the best gym equipment and the desire for you to succeed however they have hands not wands! If you are wanting get in fantastic shape, willing to put the effort in and your current exercise routine just isn't cutting it don't hesitate making contact with the UP Manchester team - as a famous sportswear brand would say - Just Do It!

I can't say enough good things about the team at UP Manchester, but particularly the legendary Richard Heap! I've tried on and off for years to get my self to a body shape I'm happy with and proud of and just never really made the progress I wanted to on my own. 2 months in and still a "work in progress" but I'm stronger, and look fitter than I have since I was a teenager! Provided you're ready to put in the work and stick to the diet plan you decide with your trainer it is worth every penny! Do it, you won't regret it (most of the time! 💪😎)

I started with the group training to get in shape for a holiday and learn how to lift weights, which I'd never done before. All the trainers are really helpful and knowledgable, and the focus is on getting the technique right before adding more weight. I've been so pleased with the results that I've taken the plunge and just started PT. Three weeks in and I'm loving it. It's very an individual service without a 'one size fits all' attitude. I feel that my PT James has listened to what I want to achieve and I am already excited to see what I can achieve in 12 weeks, given that I still have a busy life away from the gym. I can't recommend highly enough.
