To celebrate Mother ‪#‎EarthDay‬, UNDP/GEF's Small Grants Programme and ‪#‎EWA‬ presented “Champion of Earth” awards to successful UNDP-supported environmentalists at a packed ceremony in Bagh-e-Babur. Rural Green Environment Organization - RGEOwon the first award for reforesting a mountain in Tagab district of northeastern ‪#‎Badakhshan‬ province that saved rare animals and plants and created livelihoods opportunities for thousands of locals.
UNDP will keep working with ‪#‎NEPA‬ to mobilize more resources from the Global Environmental Facility so that rare plants and wild animals can thrive in protected areas. ‪#‎tree4earth‬
