The #ParisAgreement recognizes the intersection of #climatechange and #genderequality, empowerment of #women and realization of their rights. The impacts of climate change, including biodiversity loss and constraints on access to productive and natural resources, amplify existing gender inequalities and jeopardize the well-being of all. Climate change and its uncertainty put further pressure on the already fragile, under-valued and precarious gendered roles and responsibilities at community level, which shape the nature and extent of exposure, sensitivity and impacts. When it comes to #climatechange, the #transport sector is both a victim and a perpetrator. On the one hand, transport infrastructure is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change such as higher temperatures, increased precipitations, and flooding. At the same time, transport is responsible for 23% of energy-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and is one of the sectors where emissions are rising the fastest. This statistic alone makes it pretty clear that there will be no significant progress on climate action without greener, more sustainable mobility. Challenges to mainstream #climatechange #education into school curriculum - UN CC:Learn Ambassador Mr. Bob Natifu shares his story.

Mr. Natifu is a focal point for UN CC:Learn activities in #Uganda, serving as Senior Climate Change Officer-Outreach with the Climate Change Department, Ministry of Water and Environment. He is responsible for supporting the implementation of Article 6 of the UNFCCC, and as such has been an invaluable asset for the development and implementation of the National Climate Change Learning Strategy. "Changing Climate Moving People" - This is a 35-minute #film made by the Energy Resource Institute (TERI) for UNESCO, which looks at disaster or #climate stress related #migration from three different regions in #India – Uttarakhand, Bundelkhand and Odisha . These three states are already amongst the leading sources for internal migration and have been hit by extreme weather events like floods (Uttarakhand), drought (Bundelkhand region) and cyclones (Odisha), which are likely to become more recurrent and stronger as a result of #climatechange. "Episode 1: Tanzania - REDD+ and the future of African Forests."- #Tanzania, as a '#REDD+ early mover', has revealed that #forest protection and livelihood improvement can go hand-in-hand. This video highlights how awareness-raising is leading to greater understanding of forest conservation benefits, and in turn changing attitudes on charcoal production and wildfires in village forests. Webinar on "Monitoring and Evaluating Adaptation to Climate Change" 9:00 - 10:30 am CST ,18 January 2017.

One of the main challenges of #climatechange #adaptation is ensuring that actions implemented have the desired results, since conditions are uncertain and the best results are achieved when impacts do not take place rather than if something occurs. This webinar will present an approach that the World Bank is developing to improve monitoring and evaluating of resilience-building projects, followed by comments from #Mexico about their experiences in this area. This report by World Bank, Ecofys and Vivid Economics provides an up-to-date overview of existing and emerging #carbon pricing instruments around the world, including national and sub-national initiatives. The report also gives an overview of current corporate carbon pricing initiatives and provides new modelling analysis to demonstrate the crucial benefits that an international carbon market established under Article 6 of the #ParisAgreement could provide in reducing the costs to countries of achieving their emission reduction targets. The analysis provides lessons for policymakers on how maximize synergies between climate mitigation and other related policies, while managing potential tensions and tradeoffs. Deforestation and forest degradation account for approximately 17% of carbon emissions, more than the entire global transportation sector and second only to the energy sector. It is now clear that in order to constrain the impacts of #climatechange within limits that society will reasonably be able to tolerate, global average temperatures must be stabilized within two degrees Celsius. This will be practically impossible to achieve without reducing emissions from the #forest sector, in addition to other mitigation actions.

Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) is a mechanism developed by UNFCCC. It creates a financial value for the carbon stored in forests by offering incentives for developing countries to reduce emissions from forested lands and invest in low-carbon paths to sustainable development. Developing countries would receive results-based payments for results-based actions. REDD+ goes beyond simply deforestation and forest degradation, and includes the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks. "Clear the Air for Children" - This publication by UNICEF looks at how children, particularly the most disadvantaged, are affected by #airpollution. It points out that around 300 million children live in areas where the air is toxic – exceeding international limits by at least six times – and that #children are uniquely vulnerable to air #pollution, breathing faster than adults on average and taking in more air relative to their body weight. The document also notes that air pollution is a major contributing factor in the deaths of around 600,000 children under age 5 every year and threatens the health, lives and futures of millions more. Introduction
The One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:Learn) is a collaborative initiative involving 34 multilateral organizations which supports Member States, UN agencies and other development partners in designing and implementing country-driven, results-oriented and sustainable learning to address climate change. The initiative was launched at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Change Summit.

UN CC:Learn is included in the "One UN Climate Change Action Framework" of the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB). The CEB framework aims at maximizing existing synergies, eliminating duplication and optimizing the impact of the collective effort of UN organizations in combatting climate change.

UN CC:Learn contributes to the implementation of Article 6 of the UNFCCC on training, education and public awareness-raising, and the Doha Work Programme.
