Are you doing the right exercises for your posture?

The fastest way to look younger, taller, reduce back pain and feel more vibrant is to improve your posture. Doing the right exercises makes all the difference. Don't wait start today.
Are you still somewhat traumatized from all those years of having a parent or teacher telling them to quit slouching and stand or sit-up straight? I still remember in Catholic school having nuns include posture grades in our report cards. For reasons I will cover shortly this could be some of the best advice we received in our early years.

The 2015 USDA Dietary Guidelines are out, are they right for you?

I think Adkins, Paleo and 40/30/30 followers like myself might find areas of disagreement. Which diet do you follow? Still there are positive changes and clear steps in a better direction.

Follow the link to read what's new, what's the same and what needs further review.

Undoubtedly you are familiar with one or more of the USDA’s food pyramids guiding us to a supposed healthier lifestyle. Well, the USDA and Department of Health and Human Services have posted their new dietary guidelines for 2015 on their website health.gov. These, the very same fat phobic institutions that as far back as 1980 gave us carbohydrates as the base (largest portion) of their vaunted pyramid are now back with a new improved ...

High Blood Pressure is one of the most preventable and treatable high risk factors for death world wide. A little knowledge and a little effort go a long way.

Blood pressure is simple the outward force on the arterial walls. Consider that 1/3 of American adults have hypertension. This elevated pressure left untreated can damage the arteries, the heart and other organs. It can also lead to stroke and aneurysms.

Simple lifestyle changes can prevent or manage most cases, add to that supplements shown to be effective and in more severe cases medications your doctor can prescribe you.

If you believe or know yourself to be pre or hypertensive don't let it go. The sooner you start the easier it will be. For more detailed information please click the link below.

Sounds like the title of a new thriller only this one is for real. Hypertension or high blood pressure has been given the designation of the silent killer because it has no symptoms, no warning signs and most people afflicted don’t even know they have it. Getting scared yet, you should be?  Consider about one in three adults is hypertensive. So, what exactly is hypertension anyway? We all know that our hearts are essentially a pump t...

The Truth About Training Heart Rates

Spin your wheels no more. Here is the 411 on how hard to train for faster fat loss
As a personal trainer I often have new clients ask me what the correct heart rate training zone should be for fat loss. I have recently read message boards and forums with claims that to lose fat you should stay in the 120-135 bpm zone. The rational comes from the fact that under low level activity our physiology uses much higher percentages of fat as a fuel source. While maintaining this pace for 20-30 minutes will render benefits in...

Is Bulletproof Coffee the answer to added weight loss?

If you believe the hype it may be the answer to your need for weight loss, energy and a focused mind, but what is Bulletproof Coffee and what does it actually do? Have you tried it yet? Lets look a little deeper.

#bulletproofcoffee   #diet   #ultimatehealth
I was watching Hawaii Five–O the other day when in a scene one of the stars (character name Steve McGarrett) cut a large piece of butter and plopped it into his coffee. When asked by the squeamish character Danny what the heck he’s doing he explains it as a Navy SEAL trick to boost cognitive function, alertness and energy. This practice with historical origins in Ethiopia and Tibet using tea with yak butter is now being brought to you b...

"Is Caralluma Fimbriata Worth A Try For Weight Loss?"

A lot has been made of Hoodia, Pyruvate, CLA and other remedies for weight loss, some making extraordinary claims, but without meaningful results . Now there is C. Fimbriata a succulent plant consumed by Indian bushmen while hunting to stave off hunger and thirst. Claims of appetite suppression and dramatic weight loss abound. Does it really work and is it safe? Let's delve deeper...are you game?

#weightloss   #ultimatehealth
If you watch Dr. Oz, The View, or any of a zillion different websites you have likely heard of Caralluma Fimbriata along with all the claims about its amazing weight loss properties.  Caralluma Fimbriata is a succulent plant (type of cactus) that grows in India and Sri Lanka and into North Africa. It has been eaten for centuries in these countries. The buzz around this plant stems from the historical use of it by hunters and tribesmen t...

John is the best trainer out there. He is very passionate about fitness and health. But, most of all he is passionate and caring about helping people to live a healthier life style. What set him aside from the other trainers, especially in your local gyms, was he knows what he's doing and was able to explain to me the why and how it functions for all the exercises and food choices. He has years of experience and takes into consideration my age, strength and injuries, this is not to say he does not push me to work hard and feel great! His knowledge is remarkable!! He wasn't joking about contacting me outside of the sessions. He called, text, Facebook all the time to see how I was doing and keeping me accountable. He really cared to see me living a healthier lifestyle. I don't see that with many trainers. Most trainers I see only talk to their clients during the sessions and nothing more. John has been in the Universal City location for years training people of all ages. John is a very caring and fun person that walks the walk of exercising himself and eating well. If you are looking to get in better shape and learn how to be healthier, John in your guy/trainer...you will not be disappointed.

I've been working with John at Ultimate Health for 7 months now. He's wonderful to work with, flexible around my schedule (with notice, of course), knowledgeable, and the results are awesome. He creates work outs that I enjoy and pushes me (but not too hard as to injure myself). If I'm ever sore or having issue with a certain body part (I have some old injuries that flair up every now and then), he just creates another kind of workout to let that muscle/tendon/joint/etc rest and heal. In addition, the gym is a private one. It is only you and the trainer. There is no reason to feel self conscious or worry about other people. The private shower at the gym is nice too! My goal was to build up some lean muscle and I certainly have and lost a little fat on top of it! I've even had people comment on how good my body looks. :) Thanks, John!

I began training with John in 2011 following physical therapy for a broken leg. I was also a very overweight woman. I have been training with John 3x/week for 1 hr each session for more than 18 months now. In that time, I've lost 80 lbs and several clothing sizes, and I am continuing to lose on my way to a 100 lb goal. I have gained strength, lean muscle mass, and confidence! I have been able to summit not just one, but two 14,000' peaks since I began working with John. John is so experienced; he knows exactly what to do in terms of both diet and cardio/strength training. His gym is bright and spotless, and parking is free and secure. I feel completely comfortable in every way at the gym and in his care. His workouts are never boring, and he is a a lot of fun. I highly recommend John and Ultimate Health Personal Training Center!
